.. sorry for the title, I feel like being an idiot today.

...

Did your parents ever tell you to eat your veggies? Did you listen to them? Did you like your veggies?

I never needed to be told to eat mine, I love the veggies!

My favourites are:
Broccoli
Spinach
Cauliflower
Corn
And sometimes.. peas.

Do you like veggies?

I like vegetables, I really do.
The only vegetable I wont eat is courgette (Zucchini) and even then I'll eat it with soy source, or in Ratatouille.
My personal faves, though, are Spinach, sweetcorn, peas, broccoli and cabbage.
I even like sprouts.

*Ahem*

Vegetables are generally nice, though it is certainly very possible to miscook them. I have yet to be served well-done beetroot, in particular.

I love them, all kinds, though I'm not all that fond of eggplant. Good article in the NY Times magazine today called "Unhappy Meals" by Michael Pollan of The Omnivore's Dilemma. I'm slowly working my way through it between posting and grading short essays.

I absolutely hate veggies. I do not eat them. Ever. My least favorite is spinach, brussell sprouts and lima beans. Gosh, I'm glad I live on my own and don't have to be forced to stay at the dinner table for two hours to eat them.

I was encouraged to eat them when i was ickle, but not really forced. And I never really liked them then anyways.

But then later in life I started wanting to try new things, and found that quite a lot of the things I snubbed as a child were actually quite tastish. I think its definitely a case of maturing tastebuds...

My mom never had veggies in the house.

I like them now though, and I eat them everyday. I don't have to tell my kids "eat your veggies" because they like them too.

We like cauliflower, broccoli, corn, carrots, spinach.....

Carrots
Corn
Lima beans
Green beans
Peas
Broccoli (but only the bottom part. I don't like the flower part, unless it's steamed broccoli.)

If corn's dried and ground as a grain, it's good. But in its wet form, ewww!

Strangely enough, I like to watch them grow in a garden. But EAT them? Yuck!! I'd sooner try octopus meat.

I hate things that taste green. I don't care how many times my best friends call me to tell me I'm going to die of cancer, or whatever, I'm still not going to eat something that reminds me of leaves.

I can't find any spinach anywhere on campus, because the evil E. Colis will hunt me down and steal my spleen if I eat spinach, so the university must protect us and ban it from its hallowed halls.

I can't think of a vegetable I don't like, but I can think of ways I don't like them prepared. For instance: I like boiled cabbage but I hate cole slaw. I like Kimchi but I hate Sauerkraut.

For those of you that hate all vegetables, try a black bean burger at Chili's.

Potatoes, carrots (I prefer them raw rather than cooked), green beans, peppers both hot & sweet, lettuce (I love lettuce!). I'm a little down on brocoli and brussel sprouts these days, don't know why, just a phase I'm going through. Celery is good, so's celery root (celeriac). Beets! Discovered beets the last couple years, didn't like 'em as a kid. Grew some a couple years ago, turned out okay (I get frustrated growing root vegetables, all the action's happening where I can't see it, I keep wanting to dig them up to see if they're ready to dig up). Leeks & onions. Tomatoes! Tomatillos!

Great, now I'm hungry! :D

Oh, on a random, culture-comparative note:

In Germany, the classic horror veggie of choice for kids isn't brussels sprouts as in the US but spinach.

Which explains why for the longest time I didn't get the Far Side comic about the witch who was forced to sell her brussels sprout house...
