The Cat Empire: Really good. All of the songs I hear from them have a very obvious salsa-ish influence. Some of the songs are comedic.

Big Strides: They are pretty ok. Acousticy punk/indie type stuff. Just have to check them out.

Radio Tarifa: Arabic and salsa music mixed together. It sounds amazing. I believe the little singing that I've heard is in Spanish.

Rodrigo and Gabriela: Salsa, flamenco? It's good if you are into instrutmentally focused music.

Rx Bandits: They used to be a really good 'third wave' ska band. Their new CD isn't all that ska, more punk. They have tried some reggae too.

Street Dogs: Good classic punk. They remind me of Dropkick Murphys without the Irish/Scottish influence.

The Matches: A punk/rock band. They definately go in the 'genre', but they have plenty of unique sounds to their songs. E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals has a bit of a less mature sounds then their sophmore release.

Abney Park: They say they are 'steampunk'. I would disagree, but they are really good, especially their later stuff. It's techo/EBM sounding; stuff you'd hear at raves.

I disagree too, given that 'steampunk' is a fantasy/sci-fi genre, NOT a type of music.

Infected Mushroom is good at times, but can't stand up to Paul Oakenfold.
Shpongle makes the heart grow fonder.
Pete Tong rocks my socks, but I don't like the direction he is heading (judging by his podcasts)
Uriah Heep, Grace Slick& The Great Society and The Who are part of the integral foundations of what is considered Rock and Roll.
Fleetwood Mac is also awesome
Jethro Tull is the definition of manliness.
Flogging Mollys, The Tossers, and Filthy Thieving Bastards make me proud to be irish
DJ Tiesto, Sasha&Digweed, Ferry Costin, Sander Kleinenberg, Paul Oakenfold and Armin Van Buren are my favorite electronica artists.
Thievery Corporation and Kruder&Dorfmeister are excellent for chill/trippy music
I am in love with Grace Slick, Christine McVie and Bjork

Biffy Clyro: Almost un-genreable rock, mixes of post-rock, hardoore, alternative rock, a touch of metal in places...hell, they're impossible to classify, their three albums are almost like three different bands with the same guitar setup. Utterly ingenious. An absolute 10/10

Mogwai: The most thumping, inspirational, and out and out rocking post-rock you will ever hear. If you're even slightly interested in the genre, this is a band to check out. 8/10

Sigur Rós: Post-rock, but the beatiful, melodic, pondering side...a band that sucks you in, transfixes you, and leaves your heart forever yearning for more. And live they are...well, no band could match it. Superb. 9/10

Broken Social Scene: A rockier take on experimental alternative rock. Their second and third albums in particular are works of brilliance. Rocking and rolling with the very best. A band you cannot afford to ignore. 10/10

I'll do some more later.

10/10? They've done some damn good albums and are sheer brilliance live, but they've also done some crap. Cult is a 10/10, Reflections maybe 8/10, and ...Play Metallica is just great :) But Inquisition Symphony is rather poo. I'd give them 8.5/10 overall.

The Dresden Dolls: Fairly good, but tend to be somewhat boring if you listen to them a great deal. 7/10
Boring? I could listen to them all day. Amanda Palmer can hardly be accused of having the best voice around, but she manages to put more feeling and emotion into a single line than, say, Gerard Way can put into a live album. And the piano/drums work so well together. I'd say at least 8/10.

Fallout Boy: These people are made of fail.
Agreed. :p 0/10

Flogging Molly: One of the best bands out there, excellently mixing Irish Folk Music with Rock. 10/10
Meh. Good concept, executed very well in parts, but Drunken Lullabies is the only good album they've done. 7/10.

Insane Clown Posse: Has a chance to be good, but isn't that great.
No. They suck. Always have done, always will do. 0.5/10 (well, at least they're amusing to listen to, unlike FoB).

Voodoo Glow Skulls: Excellent, excellent, excellent Ska Punk. 10/10.
There's better ska out there. Even live they're a bit of a disappointment. 6/10.

Now, my bands:
65daysofstatic: Post-math-rock-metal-electronica-glitch-core. So good it's almost untrue. Both live and on record you just want to get up and fucking dance. 10/10.

Tool: Prog-metal with a dark, slightly twisted sense of humour and view of life. Not for everyone, I'll admit, but there's something almost primeval about their music that grabs your attention, then reaches inside and flicks the switch marked 'animalistic urges'. 9/10.

Crackout: Indie-punk. First album was great. Second album was utter shit. Think the punk version of Lostprophets, but not so mainstream. 6/10.

Oceansize: Post-rockish, I guess, but quite heavy in places, and the lyrics are some of the best I've heard. Can go from quiet, defensive, small in one beat to aggressive, fuck-you-all in the next. And the music just gets in your head and doesn't leave for a month. 8/10.

Pure Reason Revolution: Prog, and totally unashamed of that. Basically, a modern version of Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), Yes, Pink Floyd, etc., but not quite so overblown. 7.5/10

i agree that it is a good band, but how do you dance on that?

Sort of phase out and let the music take you...

It's easier if you're seeing them live.

Yes, I really agree that the genre of steampunk really doesn't translate all that well into music. But when I think about it, the music I consider 'steampunk' would probably be found on the Firefly/Serenity and Cinderella Man soundtracks. (I believe Firefly and Cinderella Man are both composed by Thomas Newman). To me it clicks better as steampunk then anything I've heard by Abney Park. It has a more western, traditional feel than Abney's obvious electronic beats.

Flogging Mollys, The Tossers, and Filthy Thieving Bastards make me proud to be irish.

Why? Unless I'm mistaken, none of them are Irish. Are you?

Kanabia: 3/10. I would give him a zero for ruining all the fun, but I'll give him the three for being otherwise badass
