It seems as if I have hit a cross road in my life, well sort of. I was just wanting an opinion on what I should do tonight. You see, on one hand, I want to go out and party with my Buds, but on the other hand, I don't want to piss off God. So how do I compromise this situation?

oh and if it isn't clear. Partying=getting wasted, that's why it would piss off God.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But everyone has been pressuring me all day. "Hey tom, gonna get wasted tonight? Wanna get drunk? we are going to get trashed" so its hard to fight everyone telling me to get drunk.

Don't let partying get in the way of your health, your eductaion, your career or your relationships. Other than that, have a blast. You only live once and when you're old it won't be the 9 to 5 slog you remember fondly. You'll need something better to reminisce about.

Getting drunk is stupid. It means a loss of inhibitions and judgment, which can lead to doing things you'll regret... or that your family will.

Why must having a good time = getting wasted? You can certainly drink without getting stupid.

partying does NOT equate to Getting Wasted.

If it's college guys you hand with, then be the designated driver. then you can really have some fun!

some places actually give discounts to DD's. and on the way home... (to steal a joke from Jeff Foxworthy) stop at every gas station and make them pay for it! :D

because it's ingrained in you that getting wasted is the only form of fun college students have.

Nothing wrong with having a couple, just get some control. Puking and hangovers are no fun. Drink a few beers, not a half a keg. When I was in college, there was always that guy. You know the one - we would all go out drinking and everyone would have a good time but there was that one guy who would be passed out or puking or so wasted he couldn't talk right. That isn't a fun night. That's being the butt of the joke for everyone else who is having a good time.

reverse it. Getting wasted is fun, but it isn't the only fun.

My suggestion: Caffeinate yourself throughoutly and dork around with your computer all night.

And piss off that "god" in some other way. Assuming the one you believe in is the Abrahamic one, he deserves it. Badly.

I may be an atheist, but if I may step into your religion for a moment, I don't think God would be too angry with you if you had a drink or two. Getting wasted and partying like a crazed buffoon might be a bad idea, but a drink or two won't kill you. Jesus did turn water into wine I believe.

Jesus' first miracle (at least acording to the Gospel of John) was turning water into wine at a party.... (See The wedding at Cana for details. IIRC, it was a three day bash.) If it was good enough for JC...

Indeed, you beat me to the general idea. But it wasn't just one of his miracles - it was his very first miracle, and at (according to my parents pastor at least) a drunken party to boot.

God seldom punishes those who actually need punishing, he reserves that for women, children and small animals.

But tell me something, If you must get wasted in order to enjoy an activity, is it really worth participating in the activity? If you want to get wasted, do it, don't use a party as an excuse to get wasted. If you want to have a party, do it - get together with your friends to have fun while remaining conscious and in control, if you need alcohol or drugs to enjoy your friends, you have the wrong friends.

I say party on, and screw God, particularily if thats all he has to be pissed off about.
