Do you think the U.S. could be coup? Any country could be, no matter how good there defence, police/military, or government may be. What are your thoughts?

Regarding the OP's question, any country can have a successful coup de'tat. In the US, the coup leader would have to eliminate the Federal executive and legislative branches, the entire POTUS line, and, at the minimum, the state governors and their lieutenant-governors. The latter would have to be modified depending on the state; some might have constitutions with their own succession or enable the state legislature to vote/appoint a successor. Of course, said coup leader would then have to deal with the US Armed Forces, National Guard, State Defense, and the militia. The first two could, in theory, be circumvented if the head of the coup was part of the POTUS, in which case he gains immediate, legal control of them.

Possible? Yes. Easy to do? Fuck no.

Frankly, if a persuasive enough person came along and rose through the ranks of the military, I bet half the population would be in favor of eliminating the democratic process. People are a little more wary now, but not many seem interested in the burden of democracy. I am continuously reminded of when my then-neocon cousin said that the terrorists hated our freedoms and in order to protect those freedoms, we needed to reduce our freedoms to fight the terrorists.

Out of curiosity what is the native language of the original poster? I see a lot of people making fun but has anyone asked if English was his/her first language? There are A lot of foreigners on here that I can see. I personally can speak multiple languages fluently and for the most part fluent in writing all three. I sometimes screw up spelling every once in awhile because of being tri-lingual. So before hanging someone for bad grammar I think you should ask if English is their original language. Think about it before being an asshole about it.
