Great move! That should bring piracy of Fox movies in Quebec from 50% to 100%!

One more reason to migrate to Canada (though since I'm a UKite I'm currently safe enough I think:) )

LOL! people read FOX and automatically assume Fox News! :D

Should've said Fox Studios.

the studio can do whatever they want. it's just that other distributors will now sell to Canadians and take up the slack.

Canada does expressly permit "private copying for personal use", so unless they catch you distributing the copes you haven't done anything wrong.

Unfortunately, the law's right. You haven't harmed the copyright holder until you distribute the copies, and the Canadian constitution prohibits the government from outlawing behaviour that doesn't either harm a victim (selling the copies) or directly encourage harm to a victim (buying the copies).

I encourage the US to adopt laws that don't criminalise victimless behaviour.

Maybe they should stop paying millions of dollars to these actors who got no talent. Hollywood has lost its soul long time ago, that's why I watch foreign movies, movies from Brazil, China, Japan, India, South Korea, Germany, South Africa but not from hollywood. I sometimes do watch movies in the theatre (mostly for hanging out with freinds) but then I feel like I wasted my money. Now they're going for foreign style movies like Hotel Rwanda or Blood Diamond, and so on.

People may hate the news, but a lot of my favorite movies were produced by 20th Century.

Anybody with a modicum of computer savvy can download pretty well any movie at no cost and even before it gets into general release,so what's the big deal?

Anyone find this:
According to Jacob, one man caught with a camcorder in a theatre was jailed eight years and fined $250,000.
8 years & 1/4 million $ fine!
For movie piracy?
Cliched as it sounds, aren't rapists, molesters, drug dealers, muggers et al getting out in less time and not being fined for their actions? Guess as it affects only a citizen, and not a poor defenseless multi-national corporation, it don't matter as much.

They miss out on House then. Best network show since All in the Family.
