Heck yes!

Smunkee, you and I will have to compare notes. I am supposed to be judging a science fair tomorrow morning (9 hrs from now) and I needs some pointers!

Here is the rules: the usual "did they actually do it," "where's the scientific method" etc, PLUS even the biblical applications of their results!

Man. I hate my maths prof for getting me into this already. Well, okay, maybe not. It does look good on applications.

Anyway, it's a bunch of 1-5th graders at a Lutheran school. Any tips on not ripping their cute heads off for being so iggerant, or maybe just ideas on what sort of things to ask about (yes they gave me a handout but I'd rather the questions came from the sort of demented minds that populate this place)?

We're off to a great start on this one! Those punks will never know what they were getting into. :D

Seriously though, I was more concerned about the particular weight that I would be putting on different parts of the project (consists of a display, item(s), written report and live audio report). I'm sure some will simply be flat-out wrong, but I'd really hate to scar kids for life, that's just not nice!

Alright sound nice, grade the paper based on how well it is put together, remember what you did in Junior High, and be nice.

Judge on asthetics, then plus or minus 3 for everything else, if you like the concept.

... I don't make sense.

Oh man. What's up with science fairs going religious all of the sudden? When I was participating in them, more than twenty years ago, science fairs didn't have anything to do with religion. The only time I saw it, the kid practically got laughed out of the hall for putting scripture on his display.

under 3rd grade if the board is slightly pretty and they know anything about the project then yeah, scores should be higher.

3rd grade and over, be more harsh about the report and the presentation, ask questions, look for graphs and charts, ask about how their hypothesis changed after they did the experiment, find out what kind of research they did to form the hypothesis.

Ignore the Bible stuff.

Give them -10^100 for presenting any Biblical applications.

Thou kiddies! Keep thine religion out of mine science! And get thee off mine lawn!
