Whats funnier?

The idiotic characters who end up being heroes in US toons like Homer and Spongebob and sitcoms or the idiotsavents on BBC shows like Rimmer Blackadder and the Fawlty towers guy? Or is eating kittens (http://256k.org/duff/img/courtney-eating-another-kitten%5B2004%5D.jpg) funnier?

I like BBC. Its filled with British ingenuity. The problems are genius and the way the creative idiotsavent extricates is plain hilarious, like the time Mr. Bean drove his car from the sofa tied on top of it.

Really, adding Homer and Spongebob in the same level of funny, really.
tsk tsk.

I never really watched Fawlty Towers or Blackadder nor House, House due to the fact it was on at the same time as the Super 14 Rugby Competition and/or i absolutly loved NS when it was first on.
Love of NS> Interest in House.

BBC wins just for Blackadder. And Never Mind The Buzzcocks. And Have I Got News For You. And Fawlty Towers. And Monty Python.

I could go on, but I can't be arsed,,,

I am rather confused as to why I am being asked to compare SpongeBob SquarePants and Fawlty Towers. I don't think anyone in their right mind conceives of them as being within the same genre, especially considering that the former is explicitly and unambiguously aimed at small children.

Now, if you were actually asking me whether I prefer British or American comedy, rather than setting up a nonsensical comparison between entirely dissimilar shows, I'd have to say that I honestly like both. Shows like Fawlty Towers are brilliant and hysterical. Shows like Arrested Development are also brilliant and hysterical. Why choose? :)

Blackadder: Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?
blackadder is my favorite comedy of all time with black books a close second.

I'm also sort of against comparing cartoons and live-action.. different animal.

That said, I like American cartoons.. mainly because I've never seen a non-American cartoon. Are there any? And don't give me a Canadian one - it's the same thing. I can't think of any European cartoons.

Fawlty Towers was great, and a few American sit-coms of that same era were decent too. Good sit-coms of the '70s were at least well-acted and edgy.. today's are non-offensive pablum. Sit-coms are terrible regardless their country of origin nowadays, I've concluded.

Anyway, I've been staying away from the BBC channel since I got conned into watching half an episode of the new Dr. Who. I'm surprised I lasted 30 minutes. Damn.

well i didn't much care for faulty towers, but i thought "are you being served" was great. spongebob i don't know but what i've heard about it sounds pretty hokey. simpsons are ok, not great but ok, and black adder, well i got it, but only because i had been in the s.c.a., but i don't think most americans actualy would. i may be wrong about that.

Oh, I'm well aware of anime. The Japs probably produce most of the world's animation, with most Western cartoons contracted out to the Koreans for the actual rendering. Not much comedy there though, that I'm aware of, although a good deal of anime is unintentionally funny. :)
