Sincere? Staged? Genuine? Opportunistic? I'm not sure how to take it. On the one hand, Allen (the mother) seemed genuinely upset, and Kucinich's reaction did seem authentic at first. But then you realize that this is a public, televised press conference, and that he may have gone through with the gesture at least partly for publicity and not purely out of the goodness of his heart. Then again, the encounter never did get much publicity...

What do you think? Was it a genuine moment? An opportunistic publicity stunt? Does it make you think any more positively of the underdog Democratic candidate?

It was real. There's no way that was staged. It doesn't make sense to do something like that. I say that because Dennis Kucinich is a politician of a different breed.

Now granted, i think it was a wee bit opportunistic, even if not on purpose...though it probably won't help much. Kucinich has the same shot at the Presidency as my Siamese cat does.

Dennis Kucinich and the phrase "Mistake on the Lake" are inextricably linked in my Northeast Ohioan mind.

Kucinich is an annoying idiot.

Wow. I guess that shows we shouldn't vote for him......

As to the op:

It was probably both real on the womans part and a little opportunism on the Congressman's part.
