You have been a very naughty child and it is time to punish you. *Takes out belt and mace*

My parents have their faults.

But I had race cars...so complaining seems sort of silly.

Are your parents 'Cool'?

I just want to know how many of you think you have parents that are what, for lack of a better term, 'Cool'.

Personally I think my parents are VERY generous. They raise me with strict discipline reminiscent of the 30's and Iam happy they do. I may have to do exactly what Im told when Im tolf to do it, but I get a very high level of freedom. If I finish my chores, homework and other such things I can do pretty much anything I want, unless it involves drugs (Cocaine, Heroine, Meth ext...) Im allowed to drink, and consumate all I want (as long as a girl doesnt show up at the door and my dad hears "YOUR A GRANDPA!") This has taken all the fun out of these activities. My parents even buy me booze...if I pay for it... and my father is always bugging me about intimate relations. They dont care what parties I go to as long as they know where it is so they can pick me up when im drunk. So ya I think there're pretty cool.

My parents buy me the newest most expensive cell phones and cameras and TVs. They take me on vacations to Martha's Vinyard and let me have parties in the guest house.

Every Friday, my dad gives me a huge bottle of Grey Goose and a few cases of imported beers to share with my friends. And my dad is a pharmacist, so he always gets me Xanny bars and Oxy.

But over all, I think they hardly give a shit about my happiness, they never do anything for me.

So no, they are not cool.

My dad's pretty cool for the most part, heck some of my friends think he's cooler than I am more than they like me;) He's smart and knows alot of interesting and funny stories, ecspecially about when he was younger the story about the guys on his floor who wallpapered the room with playboy centerfolds is hilarious, and he was always willing to take me places before I got a car and stuff like that. But then again he tought the sex ed class at my middle school which was uncomfortable to say the least.

My mom's all right I wouldn't say she's cool though to much of a workaholic.

My parents although they can annoy me at times, are pretty cool. They generally let me do what I want, as long as I take responsibility for my actions.

My parents care about me being happy, but as I said there old fashioned. Yjeu dont buy me anything unles sits Christmas or my Birthday...although this is to weighed against the fact that my dad takes us to Motley Crue, Van Halen and Aerosmith concerts... AND I dont like cell phones anyway.

Eh, they're all right. I mean my parents have a certain level of dorkiness about them, but I suppose they wouldn't be good parents if they didn't have at least a little.

All in all, I'm not complaining.

i think my parents are pretty cool. i'm 21 and am living with them again after dropping out of uni, so i'm kinda getting to see a different side of them than i used to :)

but when i was growing up they were still cool. they like good music and i grew up listening to Cream and Hendrix. they were hippies back in the day and were really quite liberal with me... sometimes a little too much but i eventually learned *myself* the value of doing work when it needs to be done. it was a hard lesson and took a long time to learn, but i think through not forcing me to do chores or homework, or go to bed, at specific times, i learned the lesson the hard way myself. just gotta actually impliment it now :p

they always put food on the table even when times were really hard, and always put me first, which is something i'll never forget and will always be grateful for :)

Mace as in a big spiky ball on a stick, or mace as in pepper spray?

And which is more wrong to discipline an unruly child with?

Oh, and since my parents never called an exorcist, sent me away to military school or whacked me in the head with a hammer and buried me under the petunias, I think they were pretty groovy considering what a snot I was. :)

I'm in my 30s, so it hasn't been an issue for me for a long time.

My parents are cool, don't really mind what I do as long as I don't get murdered/pregnant/jailed. And apparently my Mum's "hot" (says friends, boyfriends, boyfriends parents, everyone else I know... :|)

My parents are definitely not cool. I don't say this because I'm some teenager living under their thumb or anything like that, I say this as a young adult who doesn't live at home and hardly visits anymore. When I do visit, my mom likes to pretend I'm not 23 and tries to impose a curfew. My parents are fine with me drinking, they're aware that I don't overdo it, but I still don't get drunk at home because really, I don't want to deal with my family in that state. They would not be fine if they knew I was getting laid, they'd probably try to send me off to a convent or something. My dad's rather religious and my mom doesn't really seem to adhere to any religion, but expects us to maintain the impression that we are religious to keep my dad happy. My mom used to believe in equal rights, now she's a housewife who thinks that women who seek abortions are necessarily stupid and that I need a man to take care of me. My dad gets upset when anyone in any way refers to same sex couples as spouses (it's legal for them to get married here) and insists that anything that states that the US isn't the best country in the world is "propaganda" (we don't live in the US, but my parents are from the states).

So yeah, not cool.
