It looks like 20,000 Canadians have lost their citizenship due to a very strange law. Most of them probably don't even know they are no longer citizens of Canada. :(

It seems Canadians who celebrated their 24th birthday outside Canada from 1947 to 1977 and did not fill out the proper forms are no longer citizens. Wierd.

Does your country, county, or city have any stupid laws?

Our government makes stupid laws like they get paid for it... oh wait, most of their laws introduce new taxes, so they do.

At least we don't have that "jaywalking" one they have in America - almost every day I (and lots of other people) ignore red crossing signs and/or cross when I'm not at a crossing.

"Defamation of a deceased person shall result in liability under Section 1 or 2 if the act is offensive to the survivors or if, having regard to the time that has passed since the deceased was alive and other circumstances, the act can be regarded as disturbing the peace to which the deceased should be entitled."

I don't think the dead is in position to care any more.

"A person who promotes or improperly financially exploits the casual sexual relations for payment of another person shall be sentenced for procuring to imprisonment for at most four years. A person who, holding the right to the use of premises, grants the right to use them to another in the knowledge that the premises are wholly or to a substantial extent used for casual sexual relations for payment and omits to do what can reasonably be expected to terminate the granted right, he or she shall, if the activity continues or is resumed at the premises, be considered to have promoted the activity and shall be sentenced in accordance with the first paragraph."

Bans pimping and buying sex. Just stupid.

"A person who, by promising or giving recompense, obtains or tries to obtain casual sexual relations with someone under eighteen years of age, shall be sentenced for seduction of youth to a fine or imprisonment for at most six months."

The weird thing is, if you don't promise or offer them "recompense" it's OK to fuck anyone above 15.

"A person who unlawfully diverts electric energy, shall be sentenced for unlawful diversion of energy to a fine or imprisonment for at most one year."

It's weird that there's even a law for this.

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

Uh...what the fuck?

My state has a few crazy ones. Hospital patients cannot get beer. Public boxing matches are outlawed. Alcoholic drink specials are illegal. Massachusetts is the craziest state in the book.

Did you know there's a town that has a law specifically prohibiting throwing knives at men in striped suits?
