10 to 20,000 more illegal aliens in Canada

This is too much. On top of the 30 to 40,000 illegals that are assumed to be in Canada at the moment, this new group of queue jumpers appears out of nowhere practically overnight:

According to Canadian census data, there are an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 people in Canada who could find out they've lost their citizenship when they apply for a passport.

I say let them go back to where they came from! Ignorance should not be an excuse to not obey the law, and if they have shown so little concern for the laws of this country they shouldn't be here in the first place!

[/sarcasm]

Actually, I find the whole thing appalling. How is it possible that such a stupid law was passed in the first place? Now it's going to be a gigantic pain in the ass for a lot of people.

However, the idea that some of those people could be rabid "illegals are queue jumpers that don't care about the law" anti-immigrants doesn't cease to amuse me.

Them being in a country illegally in the first place demonstrates that they dont care about the law at all.

I'm inclined to go after their employers, who paid them for decades when they weren't even legal residents.

I know! How dare they not sign the little-known form on their 24th birthday that would demonstrate their willingness to remain Canadian! It's such an easy thing to do that not bothering to do so shows how unwilling they are to uphold Canadian law. And on top of that they have the cheekiness to ask for citizenship after living illegally here for 40 years and never bothering to even apply for residence.

Not quite. Al though they break the immigration law. They may care. Most come for a better life because we have better laws.

No way! Bureaucracy rules and ignorance of the law does not exclude you from it. I say they deport them back to their country of origin and apply through the proper channels. Then wait three to four years like any other prospective immigrant.

i think by looking at the post a lot of you don't know the facts...these people are now illegal residents because of some stupid law that they nothing of...example, there was a man whose parents are Canadians but he was born in Mexico and lived there till he was 6 months old his family then returned to Canada... he has lost his Canadian citizenship because he didn't know some obscure law... Technically he must now move to Mexico leaving his wife and kids behind and reapply for immigration to Canada...A stupid and bizarre law that very few were aware of.
