Fun with math!

How many 9/11's does a war in Iraq make?
Number of civilians killed in NYC on 9/11 : 2,974
Number of civilians killed in Iraq: 54.432
Roughly eighteen 9/11 attacks. (Though, some claim the death toll to be around 100.000, which makes it roughly 33 9/11's)
As for Afghanistan, nobody is counting (so it's probably zero). I tried to get Stephen Hawking to calculate them for me, but his wheelchair melted in the process (that was before the CIA hauled him off to a 3rd world shithole and took photos of rednecks pushing lightbulbs up his bum)
You lied to me! This math isn't fun at all!
"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here."
Translation:
"Better to cause twenty 9/11s over there than to have to get competent enough to stop one here."
Isn't the "culture of life" great?

Bumfook, here's a few things that are wrong with your thread:
It's misleadingly named.
It has an irrelevant graphic which you don't have the copyright holder's permisssion to use.
It's intellectually weak.
It's a copycat thread. The serious question of whether 9/11 justified the invasion of Iraq has been covered SO MANY times, by posters with the honesty and rigour to actually come out and debate the question without making a pissweak joke out of it.
The bit about Hawking and his wheelchair is weak and offensive. It's not offensive because of the subject, but because it has no meaning.
Now this really isn't my business, but I think your name is a bad choice too.
I've read all of your posts, and there doesn't seem to be anything there that you couldn't just let go, when you decide to go away and come back with a new name. Do it sooner rather than later. Or you might prefer to just go away .

It's basic math...Pretty sloppy without all the %'s and decimal points, yes, but still math.
I own the copyright to that image. Refer to it again and I shall be forced to take legal action.
I must be insane to post something intellectually weak in the general forum. (That thread about your room smelling of marijuana reeks of raw, throbbing, deep intellect)
I forgot how everyone here debates with honor and rigour. I'm deeply sorry.
The Hawking bit actually happened. Despite that, the events which took place, like most things in life, have no meaning.

An old eskimo once told me it sounds like the word for "beige snow falls on the dead polarbear" in the inuit dialect spoken in the Narsarsuaq region of Greenland.

It's is basic maths, yes, but it does not support any such conclusion as "eighteen 9/11's make an Iraq war." This isn't a question of how many eggs make a dozen, it's history and the lives of actual human beings.
And I think you know it. Instead of kicking off the discussion after your little maths demo with "How many people have to die in Iraq before the GWB admits it was a mistake?" or even "but they're just Iraqis" or some such, you made the ridiculous joke about Hawking and threw in an offensively trite reference to Abu Graib. At least I think that's what it was meant to be about.
I own the copyright to that image. Refer to it again and I shall be forced to take legal action.
Bullshit. Sue me.

That was a thread about me, and if you want to call it spam, I'd agree at this time. It was trivial, it was intended to be funny -- and the only issue or person it might have been offensive to was ... me. I hope you can see the difference between that and this thread.
I forgot how everyone here debates with honor and rigour. I'm deeply sorry.
Of course they don't. If they're joking it should be obvious (no visual or tone-of-voice clues, remember?) and if they contradict themselves they deserve to have their face rubbed in it. Otherwise they're trolling or pwned, respectively.
The Hawking bit actually happened.
You have spoken to Steven Hawking? You asked him to do some maths for you, and he tried but his wheelchair melted?
I'll give you some credit for trying to be funny.
If you'd done it within a thread, it would pass without comment. But as a thread-starter, it's trolling.
As for my name: It happens to be dutch. I don't see what's wrong with it.

At least as BS as your original copyright infringement claim... I'm sorry I don't really agree with the op but when I saw that claim I was like WTF
For one attempting to call out copy right infringement on a linked image? Not only may the image not be copyrighted but this may also fall under fair use policy (as it is not an "image" portraying content rather a cover shot of a product published to the web by them)

"Fair use" is review, comment, and dissemination in the spirit it was originally intended. I'm not looking this up, that's fair use.
This is the cover of a kid's educational game. It has the name of the site selling the game added to it. The game apparently teaches mathematics. Bumfook is using it to mock mathematics. He isn't talking about mathematics (despite the thread title) and he isn't talking about the game. He's using it mockingly. I don't consider that "fair use."
And this above all: it's a thread starter. Thread starters appear on the nationstates.net page when you're logged in, and nationstates is used as an educational tool. In schools. Read the OP again, think about it.
Yeah, the copyright infringement accusation IS a bit of a stretch. But everything Bumfook has done in this thread is testing the limits of the permissible. I reported the thread as soon as I saw it, before it had one reply, and I crossed my fingers and hoped it would die.
Perhaps it's just a personal thing, and I just can't stand his style, regardless of whatever it is he's trying to say. I was a bit that way with Ny Nordland, too.
EDIT: I was out of line criticizing Bumfook's name, though. It's not a Dutch word, there are no Bumfooks in Amsterdam or probably in all of the Netherlands, at least ones in the phonebook. It appears to be used as a mock-name for imaginary one-horse towns in the US.
In Australia, we say "Woop-Woop" in a similar sense, or "back of Woop-Woop" for people who live in "the middle of nowhere." As a nation name, it's actually quite cool, implying the same kind of humble beginnings I had in mind when I named my nation.
I regret my own choice now that I'm an NSG slut and no longer considered a nation, and I quite honestly urge Bumfook to make another nation and name it something that doesn't make people immediately think of anal sex. Unless that's what he wants.
EDIT-2: Ooh, look. Bumfook is GONE. Moderation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12247425&postcount=7)Good call, NH. Goodnight, everyone!
