I think the poll options are a bit low.. most people can manage something in the neighborhood of a minute.

Last time I timed myself, I could hold my breath for two minutes, but I was in better shape then. Maybe 90 seconds today.

Edit: Yes, 1:35 just now. Didn't think I had a stopwatch, but I do.. my computer's clock in analog mode.

I believe Lara Croft can hold her breath for approximately two minutes while swimming at full speed.

I used to be able to hold my breath while swimming 75 meters underwater, but I have no idea how much time that would have taken. I was in much better shape then, though. As things are now I was only able to manage about 80 seconds.

For some reason I can only hold my breath for about 50 seconds. I'm not out of shape at all though, so that kind of makes things a bit weird to figure out.

Less than 23 seconds. Seems like smoking is finally taking its toll... (I used to be able to hold it for 60 seconds easy)

i can go 2:30 on no stimulants

my resting heartrate is only like 53, but after a couple mosters xxl cans it increases my heartrate to about 90 and i can barely do 1:45

thats interesting... one day i went to see my doctor after drinking a xxl can of monster and my heart rate was actually lower than 2 weeks before when i went after having nothing.

hm.

Are you sure you've got those heartrates right? Most people have a resting rate of at least 60 and during moderate to moderate/intense excercise, it's around 120-140. 90 isn't that high...

Are those rates for your average Joe on the street, or for athletes, or an average...? Just curious, because my resting heartrate right now is 62, and I consider myself to be fairly out of shape because I haven't worked out regularly for a couple months. When I am working out regularly, though, my resting heartrate drops closer to 50. Haven't a clue what it is when I'm exercising though.

Gotta embrace the pain if you want maximum results holding your breath. It's an unnatural thing to take in that much air, and most people don't fully expand their lungs, preferring a more comfortable 2/3 capacity or so. Anything over two minutes for me was always kinda painful if I didn't do it often.

Surely not I, for 'breath' is not a verb.

Man. Only about 70 seconds. But then, I'm still feeling a little sick, in that every time I take a breath too deep, I cough enough to convince someone I'm dying. Something in my chest. Argh.

It was almost 90 seconds. I think I could do alot more when I was little, mainly because I practiced holding my breath sort of as a hobby in my spare time.

Moi aussi ... hence the reason why my adolescent, chronically oxygen-starved brain tissue routinely fails to perform adequately in solving vector calculus equations.

Wouldn't it be nice if life had a CTRL-Z?

It would, indeed ... the story of my life, mon ami. The story of my life.

And, no, I will not.
