How people change...

I was just thinking about how people change, for instance there was a girl I knew who came over from America about '02 and left in the middle of '05. When she left she was quite okay and a fairly nice person. When she came for a vist middle of '06 when another friend was going back to Holland she turned up and she was the most incredibally annoying person, wore Abercrombie and Fich and was just shallow and a horrible person.
What does this to people? Does America naturally breed people such as her. As I last remember her screen name for MSN was "America's Angel".
I'm fairly disgusted, even though it was over half a year ago.
EDIT: After reading this it sounds distincly tross-lish towards America. No offense meant.

I'm confused. She went where and came back from where?
No, shallow and trendy idiots are universal. It's a disease that usually sets in around the age of 16, but can happen somewhat before or after that.

Sounds a bit middle class for me.

Depends on what you mean by "Naturally breed". American suburbia with all of it's extreme wealth and safety, suffers from a (thankfully) unique personality. Obnoxious, rich, white kids with too much money and too little sense are a part of that personality (although, in their case, lack of personality might be the best term). There is an almost desperate manner in which suburbanites spend their money, which I've always assumed was part of the existential angst that arose in place of the angsts of hunger and squalor. The result is a shallow culture of paranoia and opulence.
That and stupid people abound everywhere.

Probably closer to upper-middle class, but pretty much. :p

They actually moved back to America because her mother apparently wasn't getting paid enough as a nurse here.
They were quite well off methinks. Well off enough for her to have an iPod anyways.

People usually get beter when they travel. I know I do. You see, when you travel away from home, you leave all the bad stuff behind you and become a beter person.
When you stay in the same enviroment for a long time, you may grow biter from all the problems surounding you. Go away from that, and you breath more freely and become a beter person.
And its great traveling to another country. Just from being a foreigner you´re somewhat special, and people treat you very well. All the travels I did, everyone treated me very well just because I was brazilian. Then, you go back home and you´re just as brazilian as everyone else, you have to deal with your problems, and you grow back to being your former self.

Hm, reminds me of a story I was told by someone.
She was white, and she went to India with her friend who lived in the same country who was an Indian. Basically her Indian friend got treated like crap and wasn't let into some places where she (the white one) was.
Interesting...
I know I suck at writing stories. Almost as much as your mom!
Terrible joker too.

Well, it really depends. When I went traveling, I was feeling quite like shit, because I had failed my medical entrance exams, and I was feeling like a total failure. Every minute I spent in my house I was thinking I should stay studying and if I was having a great time, I was being a loser. I went to my friends, and everyone was going so well that made me feel even more of a loser. So, I became biter.
So, I just had to walk away and so I did. I went traveling alone for 40 days, and I met a lot of people who treated me very well, and that made me more open and quite a lot hapier. When I came beter I was feeling much more happy and also a lot more confident from all the experiences and chalenges I saw and overcame.
Maybe this friend of yours faced something similar. Maybe she went away from the US and found hapiness there where you live. Then she went back to the US, and found problems that made her quite a bitch.
You see, hardly anyone that acts like a bitch does so because they like it. Usually they have problems they cant deal with, and end acting them upon others.
