CSA Anthem

There have been many historical studies into what would've happened had the South won the war. Here's an interesting question, what would their anthem be if they won?

Have fun with this one and be sure to take advantage of as many southern stereotypes as you can.:p

I will answer with "Freebird" just because I love the guitar riffs and love Skynyrd. (disclaimer: while I love Lynyrd Skynyrd, I don't like support the Stars and Bars and what it stands for)

The official anthem of the Confederate States of America was God Save the South. However, Dixie was more popular.

"Our country tis of thee
sweet land of slavery
of thee I sing

land where the niggers cried
land where the yankees died
from every mountainside
let treeaaasoonnnnn ring."

I figure it would have been Dixie.

"Dixie" would seem like the obvious choice...

Probably Dixie, but I like "Bonnie Blue Flag" better. I think the CSA had much better anthems, though Battle Hymn of the Republic has some great lyrics.

If the South won, the southern rock movement would not have happened.

Why not?

Why not?

There would not be the element of deep-rooted sadness caused by defeat and Reconstruction that makes southern rock as moving as it is.
