No. No. No! The Pats (referring the whole team) should be an "is", but since Pat(riot)s is plural of Pat(riot) "are" is perfectly correct. If you said "The Pats is going to win going to win this game", you'd be from the deep south, in which case you wouldn't know any better, or a retard.
