Guantanamo ex-detainees cleared of terrorism charges
Five Moroccan men who were released from detention at the US base in Guantanamo Bay have been cleared of terrorism-related charges in Morocco.
[...]
They were accused of belonging to a criminal group and failing to denounce crimes threatening state security.
[...]
Rabat's criminal appeal court acquitted the five men.

And these were people who, according to some here in NS, should have been granted no legal rights.

The process is manifestly unfair and unjust, their is no right for the accused to confront their accuses, people can be executed under hear-say evidence, and torture extracted 'testimony' before 2006 is acceptable. The defense is not allowed to see much of the evidence against them, as it's confidential, so it's impossible for the defense to mount an effective case.
As an Australian Law Uni student, I heard Major Michael Mori (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mori) speak in person at our lecture theater in regard to the illegality of the system. In Aus terms, it's like the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) being the Judge, the Bush Administration effectively controls the case outcome. People are also kept in solitary confinement indefinitely.
I personally find it offensive that anyone would find the process fair, it is a mockery of everything modern civilization stands for. Shame on you, IL Ruffino.

Are you comparing me to a group of Nazi sympathizers?
I believe the comparison was meant to be between the Gestapo and Bush, not you. Incidentally, while he may be doing his personal best to protect our freedoms and the like, you can hardly deny that his best is rather shoddy compared to that of previous leaders.

May I ask, how do you feel about "innocent until proven guilty" yet the person is held without bail? It's the same thing.

I hardly think the Bush Administration would go on a witch hunt for the hell of it. They feel you are a threat, they have the ability, and the right to protect their citizens from you.

There has to be a preponderance of evidence that he is at risk of running or a threat to others safty. Not so in this case ...
And in the end even without bail the accused has the right to a speedy trial by his peers (rather then government officials)
False on both the speedy or the trial of peers part here
