TWINSBURG, Ohio - Crikey! A talking "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin action figure that has his recorded voice reciting his signature phrase will go on sale nationwide next month.

With the blessing of his widow, the 39-piece Steve Irwin Wildlife Adventure Series as well as plush toys and educational items will launch next month at the 2007 International Toy Fair in New York, toy maker K&M International said.

K&M was ready to stop the international launch after Irwin died Sept. 4 from a poisonous stingray barb piercing his chest, but Terri Irwin wanted to go ahead, said G.B. Pillai, K&M president.

"We want people to know what he stood for and never forget him," Pillai said.

Irwin had recorded the voice for his action figure, dressed in khaki shorts and shirt with hiking boots. The doll describes a crocodile rescue, sprinkled with funny phrases in his thick Australian accent.

"Holy Guacamole!" it says at one point. "Do you see that? It's a giant golden orb spider and she's built her web right across our path! It's super sticky for catching small birds and bats. Let's not disturb it."

The toys will also be sold in Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. They've been sold at Irwin's family-owned Australia Zoo for the past year. K&M also plans to launch a line of plush toys called Bindi's Friends, named for the Irwins' daughter, who will debut her own show on the Discovery Channel.

Irwin's final documentary, called "Ocean's Deadliest," is to air Sunday on Discovery. It will not include footage shot the day he died.

Likewise. ;) I came across an episode recently, and the animation is just dreadful (not to mention the storyline, the dialogue...) but for kids it was fun. And the opening credits were great.

My sister and I collected all the action figures, of course. :p

For buying the action figure of a man who died. I would just feel like I was aiding in someone making a profit off his death..Which is wrong.

You should be able to buy one in a diving suit filled with red food coloring! Then all the kids would go wild for them. Oh, and it must include our good friend the stingray.

I don't see a problem with having an action figure of Steve Irwin (R.I.P.) He for one was a well known and respected figure. Secondly, he is a Legacy. May he be remembered for all times. I'm sure Steve Irwin, himself, wouldn't mind having the action figures put in stores, if he could I'm sure he'd promote it himself. I also don't think his wife, Terri, would do something that Steve Irwin wouldn't want. She most likely feels that Steve would probably want them to sell. It'll continue his Legacy and continue to have him remembered and his mission to be remembered. What a Unique individual the Crocodile Hunter was and forever will be. Steve, you and your family are continually in my prayers. May your Legacy Live On. :)

Steve, you and your family are continually in my prayers.

I'm not sure what's more disturbing: that you're trying to communicate with the recently-deceased through an online chat forum, or that a TV personality should prominently feature in your ongoing, intimate dialogue with God.

The guy was a hero to plenty of kids...I don't see how that being carried on is going to negatively impact his children. Apparently, Bindi (his daughter) also has one coming out. I guess she wrestles baby crocodiles or something.

She has to think of her financial future. Also do you really think these kids go to a regular school? They are most likely either taught by a personal teacher or in a nice private school somewhere. I highly doubt they really even know about this.

Guess what, it's not about you. His widow wants it to happen, and no doubt Stever Irwin would have wanted it to. Your thoughts on the matter are irrelevant except where specifically applied to your own intent to buy or not to.

Plenty of famous people go to regular public school. In fact, this girl who was in a few movies will be in my high school next year, she is currently a sophomore. She even dated the brother of someone I know. And these twins who graduated last year were in a few well-known movies. I obviously won't name either of these. :P
