What word processor do you use?

I got fed up with about every single one, I tried... OpenOffice is condensed slowness, Microsoft Office crashed reproducably when attempting to read a file it created also messes up the position of pictures, kOffice is sugar, spice and everything incompatible (its import- and export-filters are really bad), Abiword and me neveer could find to each other, it was really weird.

I only use LaTeX, because I am fed up of all the rest, how about you?

Apparently, I can not add a poll, so just state it in text.

I rarely use a word processor these days. I use PSPad for almost all my text processing needs. When I need to use a word processor it's either Word, or the one by Google. Have you given that one a try? If you have a speedy internet connection and a computer that's not too slow it could fit the bill, although it's not as feature-rich or as fast as Word.

It's been a while since I last used Corel's Wordperfect, but that's another option you can try.

none. there is no need to process words anymore...
documents are created automatically and saved as pdf. no more editing required after that, and texts are assembled in plain text editors and then copied to forms of a database UI.

MS Word 2003 works great for me... maybe it's just your computer.

And what do you mean you can't add a poll?

I hear there are some good freeware ones. Like Abiword, and Delphad.

I am a happy user of OpenOffice. It works fast enough for me.

Well, it depends on the kind of text I have to write.

For simple letters or stuff like that I use Word. It's good enough for this.

For scientific work (like articles, or my diplomathesis) I use LaTex. It's simply much easier to insert mathematical formulas or references.

I use Office 2000 because it's by far the least annoying and most stable version of Office.

i use word and open office. i dont have any problems with either of them.

i like word's grammar check. it catches those homonym errors that spellcheck misses.

I’m using OpenOffice for my formal writing, but TextPad (http://www.textpad.com/) for most of my writing.

Excellent idea! And then, to improve your WPM, you can use:

My computer is incompatible for Office anyways for not being a 32-bit machine. it was Word 97 which horribly failed loading its own documents....

And not being able to add a poll was due to having blood in my caffeine-stream.

I tell you, they need to start regulating this blood stuff. I got some in my alcohol system once, and my god, what a headache!
