## HP printers suck!

My second HP printer in two years just died on me. It's just a couple of days out of warranty. Any suggestions on what brand to replace it with? Oh, and if you're shopping for a printer I certainly don't recommend HP brand.

how about NOT Lexmark?

didn't have to tell you that though.

I likes my Canon, it's pretty sweet.
Lexmark do suck. I've never had any problems with my HP printer though - nor any HP printer I've used.

## HP printers suck!
Okay, that was a disappointment. Seeing how it was a thread by you I was all ready to find a link to some obscure article about someone trying to use their HP printer for sexual gratification. :p

Also, the HP printers I've had all worked fine. =)

Indeed, the long and illustrious tradition of DCD threads being my sole source for news of the world has been devastated.

My HP works great. Everything from the photocopier, to the memory card slots, to the scanner, and the printer. :)

And like WYTYG said, I too thought there would be some creepy story here.

And what the hell are the "##" for?! They annoy me. :(

Mmm, HP make good quality printers, but their ink cartridges suck. The sponges inside them are miniscul, and they last for a fraction of the time that other makes of ink cartridges do. That’s why the printers are so damn cheap.

He's trying to make it harder for OceanDrive to keep track of the latter's own threads. Which is a rather charming idea, really. It is a tad irritating, though, to say the least.

That's an idea...

Unless DCD and OD2 are acutally the same person!

Where have all you people got these working HP printers from? Mine sucks big fat cocks. Its jsut a pile of rubbish that wants you to spend lots of money on it, and randomly rejects the brand new cartridge (the one that it came with when it was sold) cause it was supposedly the wrong type. Stupid HP.

Honestly, I've had nothing but good from HP printers, and I'm still working on killing the one (HP Deskjet 3745) I got 3 1/2 years ago, so I really have nothing to recommend.

Although, avoid Dell printers like the plague. In the same amount of time, my roommate has gone through something like 4 of them.

Dell doesn't make printers, they are branded on Lexmarks though.

Guess I'm not getting a Lexmark then. My boss tried to use a Dell printer. It was crap.

I avoid Lexmarks, they are a bitch to repair, but our Dell (labelled) printer works fine... so far.

well, yeah, so does my Dell laptop, and my Toshiba notebook, but you know people start threads left and right complaining about those too.

I think I am hard on printers and the Lexmark just couldn't keep up with it. Like I said earlier though my Canon is doing fine.

My mother has an HP all in one thingy and it is finicky to the extreme, although I think her OS is to blame.

what model and what's happening.

The last one was an all-in-one 6210. The ink cartridge carrier kept jamming. There were no obstructions, but it would start each line of text a little to the right of the last until the cartridges would jam against the side of the printer. Then it gave up altogether and would report a jam instead of printing anything. Before that I don't remember the models. One jammed and when I took it to be repaired they told me that the ribbon that pulls the carrier had "shredded". Before that, well it was an older printer, so maybe it's unfair to call it a lemon.

I "borrowed" a printer from another office. It's an HP 6310 all in one. It's working after I downloaded the drivers from HP. I guess I'm back in business for now.

try Cold booting it. that might fix the 6210. your manual should tell you how to do that.

the gear ribbon shredding... yeah, that happened with one of our deskjets.

I tried everything. I even did the online chat with a tech support guy from HP. He finally decided it was a mechanical problem, told me that the printer was out of warranty, and now I'm pissed off.

The HP support tends to be somewhat iffy at times. Did you try their forums?
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/home.do?forumId=1

and there are service centers (should be one in your area) that should beable to assist you. tho if it is out of warranty, you will have to pay.

and this is at work?

That's strange. I just replaced my old HP printer of 11 years, because I was ticked off by its horrible picture quality and slowness just printing a page of text. My new one prints out pictures as seen on the screen, and full pages of photos in 25 seconds, plus it'a a fax/copier combo.

Great stuff for $80.

I find the Forums better than their support. (heck, their support didn't know about an HP service center in my STATE. they insisted I had to send the entire printer in to be fixed.)

Don't buy an inkjet... they always cause trouble!

I LOVE MY JOB!

I had to fix an HP Color Laserjet.

I had to extensively test it.

Fortunatly, I just happen to have alot of high graphic, color intensive image files that I could use to "test the printer out" :p

The level of detail is so amazing... you can practically see... err... nevermind...

I agree with not buying a lexmark. For the first 3 months of having it, it was fine, but I go to replace the ink cartridge, and then it keeps telling me there is no ink in there. And its the right kind of ink too. Grrr

We got one of those for the office. It's sweetness on four toner cartridges I tell you.

And, yeah, avoid inkjets. They're only good at giving the manufacturer permission to rob you blind and they're made to be disposable.

Lasers are more expensive to buy initially but they'll save you a ton of money in ink and last for years.

I also have found HPs and Lexmarks to be junk. Lexmarks seem to work okay at first, but they die too fast.

My experience with the HP, especially, was nothing but frustration! The HP all-in-one I got never did work right: It wouldn't even print 2 pages in a row. IF it got through one page, I was lucky. It would keep on reporting a jam and stopping--even though there weren't really any jams. And sometimes it'd claim it was out of paper even though it wasn't. Argh! I tried downloading new drivers...that didn't help.

Finally I said "F it" and got a Canon. The Canon works great, no fake jam reports, no fake out-of-paper reports, and it also sounds better (the HP had a very clunky sound).

Aye, I've not used a photo developer since I started my job, I've unlimited access to our good Laserjet.

I am so saving up to buy one. it may cost a bundle, and buying toners would be a bitch... but the output.... SWEEEEET!!!
