## Ten years in prison because the government persecutes Christians

Kent Hovind, the remarkably normal looking retard who brought us the creationist museum, got sentenced to ten years in prison. It seems he owed nearly a million dollars in unpaid taxes. Clearly they only treated him that harshly because of the conspiracy between the secular humanist government and the atheist science community. http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070119/NEWS01/701190332

Mr. Hovind obviously thought Cesar was due nothing since his museum was God's work.

Problem is, Cesar has a gun.

Hmm, let's see, what does Christ say about this matter?

Render unto Caesar…” is a phrase attributed to Jesus in the synoptic gospels. Jesus gives this answer to the question of whether it is lawful for Jews to pay taxes to Caesar. The full sentence this phrase comes from is “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (“Ἀπόδοτε οὖν τὰ Καίσαρος Καίσαρι καὶ τὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ τῷ Θεῷ”) (Matthew 22:21).

Hostile questioners tried to trap Jesus into taking an explicit and dangerous stand on whether Jews should or should not pay taxes to the Roman occupation. The trap was that if he advocated tax-paying, he would lose his credibility as a Messiah (if not his life to a lynch mob), but that if he advocated nonpayment, the power of the Roman state could be turned against him. At first the questioners flattered Jesus by praising his integrity, impartiality and devotion to truth. Then they asked him whether or not it is right for Jews to pay the taxes demanded by Caesar. Jesus first called them out on their attempt to trap him, then asked one of them to produce a Roman coin that would be suitable for paying such a tax. One of them handed such a coin to him, and he held it up and asked them to tell him whose name and inscription were on it. They answered that these were Caesar’s and he responded “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” His interrogators were flummoxed by this, and left without having succeeded in pinning him down.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Render_unto_Caesar...#Context

Now, this money that he's received and refused to pay taxes on.... what does it say on it? Does it have pictures of American Presidents and founding fathers? Does it say The United States of America on it?

Render unto the government what is the government's. Render unto God your honesty and glorification of His name.

I love this guy. He puts the fun in fundy--if fun for you consists of laughing at idiot godbags, and for me it does. He's a second-rate con man who got caught playing fast and loose with the tax code and wound up in jail, and he deserves every second of his incarceration.

I have to agree wityh you there nazz. Sounds like he got called out on his BS and now he is trying to win the sympathy of the masses that he is just being discriminated against which is so much unmitigated crap. I hope he finds himself a good husband while he is in jail.

Oh, sorry, I was just under the mistaken impression that Christians actually, you know, know what the dude they profess to follow said.

But what do I know, I'm one of those devil-worshipping Catholics.

;) Well, that puts you into a somewhat less vilified caste on the "enemies of TRUE Christians" ranking.

(Have you ever noticed how many TrueChristians(tm) misspell it "Christains"?.... something to ponder cos I don't think I want to touch the obvious punchline there with a ten foot pole....)

Actually, it makes me more vilified in many ways--something along the lines of "the devil can quote scripture for his purposes" or something. Doesn't really matter to me--I have a greater appreciation for the Bible now that I understand that it's a cultural snapshot as opposed to the inerrant word of god.

Hovind..A Patriot and a Saint Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:53 am
Hovind is in jail because he refused to file for an exemption, get a license, to conduct his ministry, but demanded his God-ordained right to minister without taxation as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Is it a conflict of interest that David Gibbs makes his own living advising churches on tax matters ? If Hovind won this case, and the first amendment stood ... how much income do you suppose ole David Gibbs would stand to lose ?

Dr. Horton gave the court the zinger. She said, "The Bible doesn't exempt anyone from paying taxes."

Then why is she the Senior Vice-President, and her husband the President, of a tax-exempt organization known as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is exempt from federal income taxes? This also means that gifts to Pensacola Christian College are deductible from the donors' taxable income.

Hovind rendered unto God what is Gods and refused to bow the knee and grant the IRS god rule over his tongue.

Isnt it ironic that the same folks that insist the Hovinds should be paying taxes on HIS ministry operate under tax -exempt status themselves?

Hypocrites, who secretly practice wickedness under a show and profession of religion. Dissembled piety is double iniquity, and the ruin that attends it will be accordingly.

You may see them in triumph and joy, triumphing and rejoicing in their wealth and power, their grandeur and success, triumphing and rejoicing over their poor honest neighbours whom they vex and oppress:

Their joy is but for a moment, and will quickly end in endless sorrow

Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

Hottest place in hell is reseved for the hypocrites

Doubtless, by now those involved in this case have begun to experience the first wave of horror come in their own lives. Perhaps they have not yet put 2+2 together. .. but soon enough they will. That extra glass of wine to relax.. the antidepressants they take will not soothe them . The inward terror will fester , grow and follow them about withersoever they go .

Psa 105:15 Touch not mine annoined and he that toucheth him toucheth the apple of his eye.. And do my prophets no harm

Folks dont learn. Cursed, separated to all evil, laid under the wrath of God, as it is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men.

Who knows the extent and weight of a divine curse, how far it reaches, how deep it pierces? God's pronouncing a man cursed makes him so; for those whom he curses are cursed indeed.

Yes, it is a sad and sorry day for the Hovinds today.. but prayer needs to go up for the wicked ones involved in this case ..if it were only the wrath of man these folks had invoked.. it would be but a small matter.. but these poor fools have placed themselves under the wrath of the almighty God and there is no escape .....

they know not what they have done to their own lives .

Hovind can count it all joy that he is in tribulation... but his tormenters are forever locked in the iron cage of despair

Dr. Hovind - A Wonderful Christian Fri Jan 19, 2007 10:12 am
I live in Kentucky and only learned last week that Dr. Hovind and his wife had been convicted of tax evasion. I literally cried when I heard the news. What a horrible, horrible travesty. Dr. Hovind was (and is) one of the greatest Christian inspirations I've ever encountered. His love of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King James Bible and Creation Science is reflected in his years of relentless and dogged dedication to spreading the Bible-centered truth about one of the greatest deceptions ever hoisted on mankind - evolution. In Dr. Hovind's debates with the monkey-men, he always comes across in a loving, yet uncompromising manner. He has been doing, practically single-handedly, what the body of Christ should have been doing all along - marking them "which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned" and avoiding "oppositions of science falsely so called" (see Rom. 16:17 & 1 Tim. 6:20). While Dr. Hovind was obviously mislead on his taxpaying practices, he has, for many years, been a model and a great example of how Christians should serve the Lord as he's shouted loud and long to a nation (and world) which has plugged it's collective ears to the truth of the Scriptures and to the only way of salvation - the Lord Jesus Christ. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us ..." (Titus 3:5) "... and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1John 1:7) Where Dr. Hovind messes up (he's only a sinner saved by grace) we can ignore his example (especially his tax practices), but where he sets a perfect example of Christian service we can, and should imitate him. The apostle Paul wrote: "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." (1 Cor. 11:1) I'll be in prayer for Dr. and Mrs. Hovind and their family and pray that the Lord will show them much mercy. The service and good he's done for the cause of Christ and the Truth FAR OUTWEIGHS the fact that the government didn't get their cut of the $$$ Dr. Hovind was using for the Lord.

"If it's just money the IRS wants, there are thousands of people out there who will help pay the money they want so I can go back out there and preach," Hovind said.

So now he's going to get his devoted followers to pay the money he didn't?

Dear Ted,

The damn Secular Humanists finally got me. Going to be sitting in the klink for a while. The men here are good looking though, and I think one of them even smiled at me. Other than the lack of crystal meth- they still haven't gotten a hold of the cold medicines yet- I think you'd get a kick out of this place.

Love,

No one accuses you of worshiping Isis and Baal, though. Why should they? Worshiping Isis and Baal, and original Yah, is much better than worshiping the fabricated Jewish deity or his alleged son/incarnation. Such an "accusation" would in fact be a compliment.

In regard to the "render unto Caesar" quotation, it does seem a tad hypocritical of the preacher. However, has any indication been given as to what ends the illicit funds were used?

Admittedly, irrespective of whether the capital was used foe charitable ends, the evasion remains illegal, however, if the money was acquired, and used, in altruism, it does remedy his position.
