Weird local TV kids shows

I remember when I was a kid we had a very strange children's TV show in New Jersey called "The Uncle Floyd Show". It featured bizarre puppets, disturbing sketches like "A day in the life of a food" where Floyd would eat food and someone off camera would scream and beg for mercy as if the food was feeling every bite. He often had bands on.

On this Youtube clip DeeDee Ramone is seen playing with some other band he was in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmGLwqLg_XY You've got to get through a puppet doing weird poetry before the music starts, and the music isn't all that great, but this gives you an idea of what the show was about.

So does anyone else remember some old, odd, local children's programming from their youth?

I figured New Jersey would have weird local TV shows...everything seems to be weird there, but in a good way.

The Rapid T. Rabbit Show.

Basically, it's a creepy "furry" loser who dresses up in a giant rabbit suit and does a terrible children's show.

Watch him get skewered (http://www.furryfans.com/rtr-tds.mov) on the Daily Show.

(Yeah, I know the video is minuscule, but it's the only copy available. YouTube used to have a copy, but it apparently got taken down. :headbang:)

If you can't find a magnifying glass for the above clip, watch this sample episode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4KRFG-7FhI) instead. It's so creepily bad, it hurts...

I don't remember any in particular, but my boyfriend absolutely swears by Wallace and Ladmo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_and_Ladmo).

Personally, I'm glad all I had was re-runs of J.P. Patches.

We also had a show called "steampipe alley" hosted by the flamboyantly gay and very talented comedian Mario Cantone. It was a gameshow/variety show for kids. Not so much weird as unique. I've never seen a kid's show like it before or since. I don't remember this episode, but apparently Stephen King was a guest on the show.

Suddenly being a pirate doesn't seem all that cool anymore. Anyway, yeah it's odd.

That guy's a weirdo. Kind of reminds me of the movie "Death to Smoochie". Hell, it even had Jon Stewart in it like Death to Smoochie did.

Found this interesting bit from the wikipedia on J.P. Patches...

Fans were called "Patches Pals." Bill Gates was one of those kids. So was former Governor Gary Locke, NW comedian John Keister, and KOMO-TV anchor Kathi Goertzen. J.P. would celebrate birthdays of selected Patches Pals by "viewing" them on his "ICU2TV" set (actually a cardboard prop that created the appearance that J.P. was looking at you from inside your television). He would predict with amazing accuracy where a gift might be hidden in the child's house.

Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, was a Patches Pal, having grown up in the Pacific Northwest. Along with Portland, Oregon clown Rusty Nails, J.P. was the partial inspiration for Groening's Krusty the Clown.{{Citation needed}}

That show was excellent.

Best show ever. Sad thing is, a network would probably be sued for airing the show today. Probably why it's never made it to DVD either.

Well that crushed my urges to be a pirate.

Plus, why the europop?

And a 'box' of treasure? IT'S A CHEST FFS! ARRRGH!
