Anyone watch Rurouni Kenshin?
Or Samurai X? A friend of mine gave me these episodes, and I must say I'm hooked on the series. The story is actually quite intriguing, and they try to explain the physics behind some things. Some.
Though I have to say Shishio Makoto is the coolest villain I have ever seen! Anybody else seen it before?

For some reason his character seems as if it was ripped of from Trigun's Vash...
Perhaps they're based on the same historical figure. Or perhaps Nobuhiro Watsuki plagiarizes.
Or both. Meh.

I've seen the whole series and the movie. It's a nice anime series with a neat plot, nice character developement, and pretty animation.
Shishio is pretty much the most bad*ss villain in the series. I also like how there's a story behind each of the three top henchmen.
I'm not sure you can explain how some those moves are possible with physics.
For some reason his character seems as if it was ripped of from Trigun's Vash...
It was 1 year before Trigun though.

Nope, it's porn.

Your right, Trigun came out on TV before kenshin did over here. :|
I hate plagiarism, but I still like Trigun better...

I honestly don't think it's plagiarism, either way. Vash and Kenshin fall under the same archetype, but that isn't really plagiarism. The two stories and styles are very different, as far as I can tell. (I didn't really Rouroni Kenshin, and I only saw a few episodes of it.)

The manga is much better, and much more serious.
If you're watching the anime series, you can stop at episode 63. The series continues for another 30 episodes with nothing happening.
However, 28-62 are really rather good, that they are.

I just think how its funny that EVERY anime shows throws an amazing amount of Japaneese culture into it. Either a series takes place in Japan, or in a mythical land where everyone wears kimonos and fights demons with Katanas. Not too mention the sheer hillarity of seeing an anime charachter walk down the street, and have 1/2 the signs reading (scribble scribble scribble) Not too mention the names. Sure they are made in Japan, but what about a hero named Brad Smith, it'd be a refreshing change from Hirihito Nagasaki, or Osaka Hiroshima every once in awhile...

Eh, I don't think the names matter very much, but I do get tired of the same old Samurai /ninja/demon/demon samurai/giant robot stuff. I'm also sick to the teeth with Vampires and grossly oversized weapons.
I wish they'd make more like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in The Shell.

I have both series on DVD, as well as a lot of other anime (Including Bebop).
This stuff originated in Japan and is created by Japanese, therefore, not many "Brads".
Aside from that, many of the different series are quite historically accurate, which I find interesting.
If you don't want Japanese names, watch Outlaw Star. :D There are at least a few American names and they don't fight w/samurai or shinobi weapons... (except one char.). :p
I'm just plain hooked on the stuff... There is a huge variety out there if you look around... too much to mention...
And for Mr. Porno... look up "Hentai" :p

Yes, the plotlines do have too fall into one of those categories. As for Ghost in the Shell, its the riddiculous outfits I hate.... (Erm detective lady, here is your new bright purple baithing suit too wear under your unzipped leather jacket! Not go kill a platoon of armed terrorists!)

I've adressed this was all made in Japan... Thats no excuse for shitty english dialgouge, and mouths that open too 1/2 the size of the charachters face when they talk.
Historical accuracy: Ah yes, when the half fox demon slayed the giant dragon...good times, good times... Ah and we cant forget the era of scantilly clad, ultra-femminine women and riddiculously dressed men.
The hell is hentai?

I agree with you there, for some reason she looks like a prostitute to me....Made it feel unnatural with her being a cop and all.

There's Black Lagoon if you're into the whole "life as part of the criminal element in the golden triangle" bit. Includes former spetsnatz working for the Russian mafia, colombian drug cartels and Hong Kong Triads.
