France honours those who saved Jews from deportation

French President Jacques Chirac has made a speech today at the Panthéon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panth%C3%A9on%2C_Paris) in honour of all the people who, in France, hid and protected Jews during the Occupation, to save them from the nazis.

Many of those people were present, as were many Jewish people they had saved all those years ago.

A solemn and necessary reminder of those times, so that no-one ever forgets.

Comendable. On a entirely different note, I wondered when reading on the french resitance how likely it might have been for the more the more brutal elements of the resistance to survive as a mafia structure
