Betazoids.

Nothing cooler than a race that is psionic, and (because of that) doesn't see the need for clothing.

I really like the Ferrengi as well, we have a few of their rules of acquisition posted around the house (not all of them though LOL)

...as for favorite race...it'd have to be the Romulans. I love the deceit. But the Borg are better enemies. Doesn't get better than that.

I hate the Ferrengi only for the reason that whenever I think of profit and economy, I think of Quark. I voted Vulcan because I wish that I lived in a logical race that isn't so emotionally focused.

Ferengi is spelled with one R, peeps, not two.

I'm watching the segment right now wif my episode downloaded off the intertubes. I love Leonard Nimoy's reaction to Jon when he points out he used to play Spock. It's a common reaction from Nimoy, and many other Trek actors as well: they get sick and tired of being considered just that one character rather than anything else. (This has been especially true of Patrick Stewart who has refused to have anything to do with Star Trek ever again, though he keeps voicing for games, for whatever reason.)

Klingons have honor--they're warlike, but they're not douchebags. I think it's more likely that there are Romulans in the White House.

No, because that's an insult to Romulans. Some Romulans do have honor, you know.

...I'm completely spacing out on who right now, but I'm sure some do.

Totally. Because noticing how Connie's forehead resembles that of a Klingon is directly comparable with treating people as inferior to myself based solely upon their skin colour or ethnicity.

:)

You mean she has a sense of honour?

Hmm.

Mayhaps that gentleman was talking about cling-ons, instead...they're a distinct species unrelated to Klingons, and tend to call Uranus home. I believe that would be much more fitting.

Indeed so. You should be ashamed, and issue a public apology to the African-American community.

Trill aren't immortal. They do have a limited lifespan, although it's very long. And most die along with one of their hosts. [/supergeek]

As I said on the other thread I think they would be more of a cross between a Klingon and a Ferrengi, a Klingon's beligerance and a Ferrengi's values.

edit:ah crap I thought the poll was the same question as in the other thread and voted accordingly.

There's a distinct difference:

Ferrengi HAVE values.

And Klingons are less belligerant than the WH

Yes, Ferengi have the same values as the WH: Money/Latnium(sp)>All ;)

I will surrender the Klingon point though ;)

Wow. Dragging Star Trek into an anti-war blurb of a speech. That's just...wow.

Didn't the Federation go to war? Like the Earth-Romulan war; there still isn't much known about it or why it got started cannon-wise. And the war with the Klingons. And the war with the Cardassians; not much known about what got the first one going, just the second. And the war with the Borg. And I'm pretty sure there was a conflict with the Sheliak. And the Jem'Hadar (which was started by going through the wormhole after being told not to). And that doesn't even count all the extra wars in the alternate universes that the Federation was in or started. Seems like the peaceful and benevolent Federation went to war a lot. Wonder why... Could it have been to boost ratings?

For the record, I'm a trekker (not a trekkie (there is a difference!)).

Anyone who didn't vote Cardassian has obviously never seen an episode of DS9 that featured Garak.

Some nice quotes...

---

Bashir: So of all the stories you told me, which ones were true? And, which ones weren't?
Garak: My dear doctor, all of them are true.
Bashir: Even the lies?
Garak: Especially the lies.

Garak: The truth is usually just an excuse for a lack of imagination.

Odo: You'd shoot a man in the back?
Garak: It's the safest way, isn't it?

Garak: I only wish I were still a member of the Obsidian Order. This would make a wonderful interrogation chamber. Tight quarters, no air, bad lighting, random electric shocks, it's perfect.

Garak: Lying is a skill like any other, and if you want to maintain a level of excellence, you have to practice constantly.

Bashir: Do you know the story of the boy who cried wolf?
Garak: No.
Bashir: It's a children's story about a young shepherd boy who gets lonely while tending his flock. So he cries out to the villagers that a wolf is attacking the sheep. The people come running, but of course, there's no wolf. He claims that it's run away, and the villagers praise him for his vigilance.
Garak: Clever lad! A charming story.
Bashir: I'm not finished. The next day the boy does it again, and the next day, too. On the fourth day, a wolf really comes. The boy cries out at the top of his lungs, but the villagers ignore him... and the boy and his flock are gobbled up.
Garak: That's a little graphic for children, don't you think?
Bashir: But the point is that if you lie all the time, no one will believe you even if you're telling the truth.
Garak: Are you sure that's the point, Doctor?
Bashir: Of course, what else would it be?
Garak: That you should never tell the same lie twice.

---

Come on...that doesn't sound familiar? :p
