Someone's finally decided to name 7 new wonders to replace the 6 already lost:
http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php
It's open to the public for voting. You have until the 7th of July (of course) to vote. The 7 most popular win!
There's 21 to choose from:
1. The Acropolis of Athens
2. Alhambra, Granada, Spain
3. Angkor, Cambodia
4. The Pyramid at Chichén Itzá, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
5. Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
6. The Roman Colosseum, Rome, Italy
7. Statues of Easter Island, Easter Island
8. The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
9. The Great Wall of China, China
10. The Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey
11. Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto, Japan
12. The Kremlin and Red Square, Moscow, Russia
13. Machu Picchu, Peru

18. Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom
19. Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia
20. The Taj Mahal, Agra, India
21. Timbuktu, Mali
What's your 7 picks?
EDIT:
I couldn't reply before as I had a class, but I agree with other posters here. They're just tourist attractions rather than true Wonders, with a capital W.
Three Gorges Dam for example is a Wonder. The engineering that went into that monstrosity is mind-boogling.
So with this in mind, what would your Wonders be (not necessarily on this list)?

I would actually pick the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, or the Channel Tunnel. But alas, neither of those are on the list.
Something about this whole affair really rubs me the wrong way.

See, thing is, that would be smart, which is not what you'd expect out of this obvious marketing ploy/scam.

I did a little looking around on that link and it seems quite contrived. The choices seem more like national treasures in their respective nations instead of real "World Wonders."
A world wonder to me is supposed to be a true marvel of human ingenuity and acheivement. While the choices they have are impressive, I don't think they meet these criteria.

Old, but:
7. Statues of Easter Island, Easter Island
8. The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
12. The Kremlin and Red Square, Moscow, Russia
13. Machu Picchu, Peru
17. The Statue of Liberty, New York City, U.S.A.
20. The Taj Mahal, Agra, India
21. Timbuktu, Mali
8. The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
12. The Kremlin and Red Square, Moscow, Russia
17. The Statue of Liberty, New York City, U.S.A.
No offence, but why?
Is something like Stonehenge more 'wondrous' than those?

the sears fucking tower
That's different to the normal Sears Tower I take it.
If so, I agree with you. A entire tower dedicated to fucking more than deserves it's place on a Wonders list.

You have voted for these candidates
Chichen Itza
Great Wall
Hagia Sophia
Kremlin / St. Basil
Pyramids of Giza
Stonehenge
Taj Mahal
If it ever gets finished, the Crazy Horse memorial will be pretty wondrous.

Still a long way to go, though.

A Wonder is something that is meant to amaze and inspire you, not recoil in horror and disgust from. That's why.

I'll take the Mullholland Aqueduct/LA county flood control systems. Future generations will look at those and scratch their heads.

I nominate J-Lo's ass.
A good wonder should be large, monolithic, and famous. It should be unusual, even unique, standing out from its surroundings and dominating the area.
In a few cases (like the Sydney Opera House and the Sphinx) nearby structures make an otherwise viable wonder less impressive, while others aren't all that unique (the Roman Colosseum is one of many amphitheatres, Neuschwanstein Castle has company on the castle scene, and so on) and some don't really overpower the scenery (Petra or Stonehenge). The pyramid at Chichén Itzá is very impressive, and only really loses out because the Pyramid of Giza has greater international fame. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a little weak in size and dominance, but highly unusual and famous. The Kremlin/Red Square suffers from conflicting interests, with the Kremlin itself competing for attention with highly individual buildings like Saint Basil's Cathedral.
Much as I hate to think of two wonders in one nation, the USA produces two worthwhile wonders. I narrowly include the Statue of Liberty over the Christ Redeemer because it gets a fame boost from its nation being a pack of showoffs (which is valid for a wonder, even if you don't have to like it).
Here are my six picks in no specific order.
Taj Mahal
Great Wall of China
Leaning Tower of Pisa
Statue of Liberty
Mount Rushmore
Eiffel Tower
I think a good test for a wonder is how easily it can be drawn, recognized or imagined. The best wonders produce a clear, iconic picture in the mind; their image is unmistakable.

That news is like 2 or 3 months old and even in 2005 someone/something/somewhat attempted to list the new top 7 Wonders.
5. Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
6. The Roman Colosseum, Rome, Italy
7. Statues of Easter Island, Easter Island
9. The Great Wall of China, China
16. The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
17. The Statue of Liberty, New York City, U.S.A.
22. Nationstates.
Anyways i imagine the Pyramids of Giza are the sole survivors of the original 7.
I nominate J-Lo's ass.
In favour of or against?

So with this in mind, what would your Wonders be (not necessarily on this list)?
1. Great Wall of China (because one can even see it from space and have protected a 2000 years culture from barbarians)
2. Taj Mahal (built by the feelings of eternal love)
3. Hagia Sophia (symbolizes two major religions)
4. Pyramids of Giza (symbolizes a social structure)
5. Statue of Liberty (symbolizes freedom and free trade, capitalism, human rights)
6. Three Gorges Dam (supplies a power for more than a billion people)
7. Ka'bah (the symbol of the world's second major religion, praised by more than a billion Muslims)

I think its beter to rank 7 wonders for each age.
Like the 7 wonders of the middle ages, the 7 wonders of the modern age, and the 7 wonders of the contemporary age. We already have the 7 of the ancient age, so...
I discovered this earlier today through the BBC, but apparently it's been around for ages.
Not easy to pick just 7, but these were mine:
Angkor (Cambodia)
Statues of Easter Island (Easter Island, Chile)
Eiffel Tower (France)
Neuschwanstein Castle (Germany)
Pyramids of Giza (Egypt)
Stonehenge (UK)
Timbuktu (Mali)
I second that nomination.
I don't. *shudders* The lack of brain a little higher up makes the whole thing unattractive.

Some canal (Suez, Panama?)
Mount Rushmore

but those are ancient, so they cannot be new wonders. I say we decide now the wonders of the modern world. I'm not sure what to make the list of them be, but NSGeneral has to go on it!

This indeed needs a good definition of "wonder", if such a thing is possible. As a few posters have argued before, for one a wonder is something "iconic", for another it resembles "man's ingenuity" etc. Barring the fact that the intent of the site the OP is referring to is highly "discutable", I don't think a list of 7 (or any number) of wonders is feasible, or even needed. It's all subjective anyway. And that's a good thing: means we can all have our own wonders :D
Therefore I personally would nominate:
1) Women, with some particular in mind
2) The LOTR trilogy
3) The katana between 800 and 1600 AD
4) Microchips
5) Most of the albums of Ryan Adams
6) Johann Sebastian Bach's violoncello suites (I know that's actually 6 taken as 1, so what if I'm cheating)
7) "The birth of Venus", as painted by Sandro Boticelli
Any of the "normal" building-wonders usually have a darkside I find heavy enough to render the whole thing void.
1. Great Wall of China (because one can even see it from space
A common misconception.
and have protected a 2000 years culture from barbarians)
Given that the whole point is to promote harmony, tolerance and understanding of other cultures, that would seem to disqualify it.
5. Statue of Liberty (symbolizes freedom and free trade, capitalism, human rights)
The Statue of Liberty was designed first and foremost to symbolise the friendship between France and the United States.
Which was why some Americans in 2003 wanted to "send it back to France". :D
Therefore I personally would nominate:
1) Women
Ah, truly an ineffable wonder. ;)

Lol yeah I remember that discussion! Didn't some eloquent southerner use the phrase "so they can replace that pigmy penis that looks like the Statue they got standing near that river bank!" ?

I can't remember hearing that phrase particularly, but I wouldn't be surprised. ;)
There are actually two in Paris:
