It seems that Senator Obama is looking at putting his hat in the ring. What's more, I think he's going to do it, possibly too early. But it's not my (British) opinion that counts. What do you think, America...?

All things considered I will vote for the guy.

Obama is very appealing but I wonder at the wisdom of running yet another Senator. Senators have terrible track records in presidential races, the last one elected was John Kennedy in 1960. And I would like Obama to stay in the Senate, gain some experience and look after things there.
Speaking of water testing, Colorado Representative Tom ("The Mexicans Are Coming! The Mexicans Are Coming!") Tancredo is expected to announce that his hat is in the ring today. It's generally thought that he's running not so much to get the Republican nomination but to gather enough delegates to be able to have a say in who does get the nomination, and to make sure that person signs up for radical immigration reform (think long lines of buses taking 11 million people to the border). Tancredo, by the way, pledged to serve only three terms in Congress when he was elected in 1998. He's currently on his fifth term.

...oh FUCK no! That is the single worst thing that could ever happen. I live in his district, though I guess I don't have to tell you just how bad he is, seeing as how you don't live too far away from it(possibly even in it.)
As for Obama, we shall see who all runs before contemplating a decision.

Exactly what I thought. Perhaps another Senate term, or (?) Illinois Governor might be useful.

Well, I suppose when one can have a gerrymandered seat guaranteed to win in, it must make thinking 'nah, I'll run again' quite easy.

Exactly, Obama is the black Kennedy. Who could the Republicans put up against Obama? McCain? McCain will never get the nomination. Guiliani? Possibly, but is he planning to announce candidacy? The most opposition Obama would face would be in the Democratic primary.

Why? That's the stupidest argument ever conceived that everyone uses against him. His experience in the Senate doesn't matter for a presidential position, and what's more as a junior Senator, regardless of his popularity, he can only just dick around in the Senate right now and make himself look good.

Obama all the way! I'm glad to see that he actually decided to run. While Gore or Dean would also be good, Obama has the clean-slate and pseudo-outsider status to run, and has the charisma to pull it off.
At the very least, he should be VP, and I believe that he should be President.

I'm hoping the 'Pubs go for the ultimate stupid descision and choose Mitt Romney, dividing their party even more, and making the stigma of the far right stick to the Republican party for a long time.
