I'm new to this game and am still alittle unsure what i doing??:headbang:

Well, it's not the most exciting game in the world. You pretty much need to be a self-starter, if you know what I mean. You should find a region to join, preferably a big one that has its own forum (Europa is a decent example). You'll find folks role-playing there and you can join that.
Nationstates General is the place where we play with our food, call each other names and generally discuss everything except the game.

One bit of advice on issues: don't dismiss them. Your country won't change unless you take a stand on issues. And it's kind of fun to see what the outcome of certain decisions are, it's not always what you think.

don't forget to log into your nation at least once every 30 days. You loose your nation, and you cannot post in the NS Forums.

Basically all you do is answer the issues and try to get the best nation....here on the forums you can do roleplaying etc., but the game itself really isn't much. The good part is all of the forums.
