That's true. Although I only got a study score of 23 in English.

What are you studying? And, no offence, but is it that hard to get into TAFE? I know in Qld there are plenty of places.

Software Development. And no, it's apparently not so hard to get into TAFE.

You know I'd completely ignore this thread if it wasn't for the word 'today.'
It was weird enough at the time. Now it's a conspiracy!

My first impression was 'job offer.' My next was 'offers of sex.'

So I read the thread. This is definitely a conspiracy. I got an offer of a TAFE place and an offer of sex (well, very remotely, but an expression of interest certainly) ... the former being unprecedented, and the latter very rare ... and both of them today.

I'm sure there's some very rational explanation. Perhaps it's the first day of enrolment for the second semester, or something. I'm enjoying the idea of a conspiracy to get us all in the same room and suck our brains out, or be subjects in a study on Personal Aspiration Withrawal Neurosis.

btw, TAFE is not 'college' in the US sense. It's more akin to 'public university.' For poms, it's 'technical college' I think. Technical And Further Education.

I didn't know the American equivalent, so I just used college. I'll be doing uni after this.

From wiki'ing it, it seems similar to a Polytechnic. Although there are very few Polytechnics left, as many of them have applied for full University status. So seeing as Australia is basically just a giant desertified 1970s Great Britain, that's what you have to look forward to :D.

Oh, and congratulations wherever they are due!

Try Community College. :)

Heheh. Your comparison went the wrong way. ;) While the public universities vary in quality in the US, they are proper universities that grant graduate degees, and many of them are quite presitigeous.

Thats ok it is all about what you want to go into. The college I went to is not exactly known as being exclusive (though after the first two years I could have cleared a much more exclusive school) Sometimes the program you are going into determine the school

In my case networking is a rare degree ... got to go where they have it.

That and location, I did not want to move across country ... too much work to do at home.

welcome to the engineering faculty, my friend. i'm sure you'll be seeing me at many of their drinking related events.
i'll be the guy who looks like jesus (possibly one of many)
EDIT: you wouldn't believe how hard for me it is not to say something bad about TAFE (or UNISA, for that matter)
