TSI might just end up being my upperclassman :o
I've been thinking about applying to the USAFA as well, and if I get in I'd 4th class to TSI's 2nd class.
So I'm not sure if it'd be a blessing or a curse to get in following TSI's acceptance :D

8 years for standard academy grads, 5 years active, 3 reserve. I don't know about pilots, though. I suppose I'll find out when the thick packet comes soon.

You know, every year cadets tell visiting kids to not come to the Academy, and the kids think to themselves, "haha, they're just messing with me." Then they come here and think to themselves, "fuck, they were right." Just to give you a heads up, prepare to disillusioned - especially if, like myself, you're one of those people who expected the Academy to be a shining pinnacle of all things military. To start you on your way to cynicism, check out www.edodo.org.
Now, something to think about that unrelated to my hatred for all things Academy - Air Force has too many officers, they're set to do RIFs again, and if you're not a pilot, you're pretty much going to ride a desk as an officer. They tried to do that to my dad b/c of eyesight, and he told 'em where to get off, and went Army. Make sure you look at what you're interested in, and make sure you really want to do it, because you're going to work very hard for whatever you do - don't waste that work on something you'll hate.

Dunno about australia, you guys probably have higher standards. Here, you basically need to know up to 7th grade math, and spell well enough to type Iraq. That gets you Eleven Bravo, front line infantry.

Technically, It'll be 6 years. 2 years of "regular" college, and then 4 years at the Academy. But, with all the classes I took here, I'll already have credit for alot of classes. That means I'll be able to take cooler classes, like Skydiving.

Dude! That is fantastic! So who was the Congressperson that sponsored you? I contemplated going into the AFA once, but I decided against it after the Iraq War started up. I've been shying away from even the Coast Guard thanks to that.
Anyway, just one thing: please don't visit Pine, Colorado whenever you're on break. I know you're not that far from me in Colorado Springs, so whatever you do, DON'T COME UP HERE! I don't think I could take an NSer showing up in my real life without having a heart attack.

Seriously though, that's cool. Check out Old Chicago's when you're in the Springs. It's not a bad town, but the people there can't drive in the winter to save their lives (literally). They drive too slow when it's dry out and then think they need to go 80 in a 25 when it snows.
I think you'd like it out west, towards Divide and such. Also, I think the Garden of the Gods would be up your alley. Still, as a Michigander I require at least 70% humidity so Colorado just didn't do it for me.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-8th Michigan) sponsered me. I met with him in October.
And I think I just might show up at your door one day, if just to see the look on your face/see you have a heart attack. And then looting shall commence. Oh yeah.
