haha, that's funny. It's kinda true though, I have friends who ask me to check their kids myspace accounts because they "can't read that teen writing"

and then there is my husband who is so old that when I said something on my blog about "teh uber badness" he left a comment about how I had a typo. :D

it's fun being married to a grown up.

The first part is true. The second isn't however - l33t was designed to circumvent the filters on bulletin boards ;)

It was designed to keep people in the dark. Though more accurately it was originally intend to avoid spiders that checked for keywords.

I wont argue that the initial part of l33t was designed, sort of. But most of what you see now just sort of evolved.

By the way...does anybody know what NIFOC and GYPO are? I've never seen 'em O_o

Urmm that's a bit less subtle than their version of it.

They're like "ah, oui, c'est chébran" rather than "éhcnarb tse'c, iuo, ha", which is obvious and lame.

Lemme put it this way: If GYPO is needed in an online conversation, you have bigger problems.

And...

Look at what the screen says there...

"Dude, I am going to hack your computer, MUHAHAHAHAH
Fear me!!! I own you!!! The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog! abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz!"

I get the distinct impression this was not written by a cracker.

I'm pretty sure the only people who use l33t anymore are bad internet comedians. The same ones who feel obliged to write "!!!!111one" just to point out that they're being, like, ironic.

Macs are the computer of choice for counterculture types. They also wear PF flyers, wear trenchcoats, and eventually shoot up the school.
