Does this look photoshopped to you?

Some dude claims to be raising giant rabbits to feed North Korea. There are pictures in the article. What do you think, Photoshopped? Anyway, I used to own a rabbit and they're nasty little bastards. They bite and scratch. A giant one would be a menace to the neighborhood.

As for North Korea wanting to solve starvation by starting giant Rabbit farms...

I've seen (pictures of, probably not photoshopped - not according to Greater Valia's Snopes article) rabbits that big before, so it may well be real. I've seen "normal" bunnies that're pretty huge, so it doesn't seem unreasonable.

'Course, fat bunnies to feed North Korea? That is a bit daft :D

I saw these pictures some time ago, and I think the concensus at the time was that they were indeed 'shopped.

The dates in the articles also match up (Feburary 2006), so I am inclined to think that this is not an elaborate international joke.

Some of those photos are perspective or shopped. They're probably Flemish Giants or the other (slightly larger breed) that I can't remember the name of. I've posted photos on here before of extra large bunnies.

There is a breed that large. My wife didn't call it the "German Giant" though. They are just starting to be imported to the US. A guy in TX breeds/sells them.

I'll have to agree with the camera angle people. I think the point will be well illustrated by a couple of other pictuires of another rabbit, Rudi.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41309000/jpg/_41309702_rudi_203.jpg

In the first picture, the rabbit does indeed appear much larger, but in the second his size is clearer.

http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/giantrabbit.asp

I remember when that first came out on Snopes' newsletter. Unfortunately I just caught an inconsistancy. One of the other rabbits they list, Bodmin the rabbit, is claimed to weigh 18 pounds. However the picture caption says he weighs 40 kg, or almost 90 pounds. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/graphics/giantrabbit2.jpg

As for the wiki, German Giants are enquired about in the talk page, with a link to Herman, another very large German Giant. That's why it comes up on the search.

This doesn't appear photoshopped to me - there might be some forced perspective issue here, but otherwise it looks like the real deal.

Oh, also as a photographer, I must assure you that it is quite possible to have two objects at different distances both appear sharp without resorting to photoshop. Been doing it for years! I'd suspect a slightly wide angle lens, closer to the rabbit's head than the farmer's, and a narrow aperture, thanks.

the perspective is unfortunate as it lends doubt to the credibility, but as a professional retoucher i'm skeptical that these are photoshopped, as the length of the forearm on the dude holding them appears proportionally accurate to the reported size of the bunny he's holding
