I didn't know whether to :D or  ... but then, I'm a woman, so I was "talking" first, before thinking. Okay, I've thought now, and I think this man could only be the product of a culture that subjugates its women, because in an open society, as we more or less have in the West, he'd have no chance at all.

Did anyone else notice how that muslimist was using english numbers? Eh? They should get their own numbers.

To be fair, he did point out he was generalizing.

I have had a man tell me that before, he said that was why I was such a bitch, because I didn't think before I said inappropriate things, I replied that he was probably right and while he was "thinking" of lies before he said things, I was just being honest which really didn't require much thought at all.

You'd be surprised people say when the other gender isn't around. There are loads of people who speak like that in the west, they just don't say unless its to someone they are sure beleives the same thing, look at Borat or feminist theories.

Although Arabs do also have a different numbering system than us. Look at this rather beat up Iraqi banknote.

Oh, come on guys, you know Lacadaemon's just kidding.

And this guy is funny, if only for his idiocy. Also, I like the sound of his language.

...seems I'm liking the sound of any language other than English and Spanish these days...odd...

That guy is just jealous because women can think faster than men. A woman can begin and finish a subject before a man has even thought of the first thing he wants to say.

Hey, I thought he stole our numbers, so what do I know? ;)

No, I don't agree with him. He's clearly nuts. But on the scale of islamic extremism and oppression of women, he's rather small fry. He's not one of those types who suggest that women should be raped for not wearing a burkha in public.

He's more of a clown than anything.

And actually the fact that he admitted he was generalizing is rather astounding progress.

Indeed, it was a lot better than I expected, considering it's a Saudi Arabian television show.

I recently found out the Burkha is Afghani and is pretty much only found in Afghanistan. What you mean is the niqab.

(the Burkha has a lace-type covering over the eyes and is one item of clothing that covers the whole body - the niqab only covers the neck and head)

Yes, I am aware of that. However, the numbers he was using were the western Arabic numerals and not the Arabic numerals of the sort they use in Iraq. However, I have no idea what they do in Saudi since I've never been there (and never want to).

This thread was designed with two points in mind. First for the comic value of some dude illustrating his point by drawing smiley faces and saying sexist statements as if it was the most ordinary thing in the world, second because it's a chance to jab Islam a bit. I'm not fond of the religion.
