What the hell is 'brook no jones?'

And what the hell, I leave iSketch for a minute and everyone bails? I mean, I know I'm the heart and soul of the game, but sheesh...;p

As a smoker, I really just deal with the fact that what I do has an 'area effect' [/nerd] that is unpleasant to others...it's just arrogant not to take that into account. If I want to do it then I can deal with having to go somewhere where I'm not going to bother anyone with it.

As someone who quit smoking a year ago, I think it should be banned everywhere, in fact, the entire planet should be a smoke-free zone so I'm not reminded on a daily basis of how much I enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So banning it in the capitol building means no Americans can smoke?

Wow!

Since when have US citizens had a right to smoke?

It's true though. There is nothing quite like the sweet kiss of nicotine.

You do know it's the international norm to have a no smoking policy in governmental buildings? Welcome to the 21st century.

That's right! Who cares if the Republicans are reading your mail or listening to your phone calls or putting your name on a list of enemy combatants or grabbing the innocent bottoms of Congressional pages, but by God! don't let those Democrats ban smoking in the Capitol! O tempora! O mores!

But score one for the international human right of "The Right to Life", which passive smoking sort of infringes upon, really.

It's in the teeny tiny print at the bottom of the last page of the Constitution. You didn't know that?

1832. Urmm maybe, anyway. I think there was a wood shortage at the time, so they made what wood there was into matches for pipes, to keep people vaguely amused when they were cold in winter.

It was the 3rd Ammendment to the constitution, IIRC.

The rather sad thing about this is that, according to the article, DC banned smoking in office buildings some time ago. Given that the Capitol is a building full of offices which is located in DC, it's a little depressing that they're only just now getting around to banning smoking in some parts of the building.

You're too new, and while you have a blessed lack of smileys for an early poster, with out a winker or a smiler or something we had to take you at face value, because as you'll soon find there are people who will say that in all seriousness.
(comma abuse is okay, cause I say so...)

But really, thanks for not doing the whole first post gun smiley abuse. Couldn't be happier about that.

I often wonder why the Mods keep the gun-smilies available anyway, given that their main use will get you banned.

Yeah, and welcome to NSG. You will want to keep that seat belt fastened.

You develop a filter to keep from wasting time reading total nonsense, the gun smileys are a good early warning system.

Search for a user called MeansToAnEnd. Or RuleCaucasia. They're scary folks, and possibly serious.

Ooh, also TheFourthHolyReich, UN abassadorship (yes he really misspelled his own name).

I suspect this is the only and entire reason behind every piece of anti-tabacco legislation passed anywhere on planet earth....
