Genocide in Iraq?

Uncaring peoples

If the United States pulls out of Iraq, do you think it is likely that one group could attempt mass elimination of the other? If one group does work on eradicating the other who do you think it will be? And finally if genocide does occur, should foriegn nations intervene or should they let it run its course?

The only reason I'm actually thinking about this is I was watching Hotel Rwanda a couple minutes ago and wondered if it would happen here.

If the US pulls out, the Shi'ites will butcher the Sunni population. Iran will probaby help them with this.

Saudi Arabia has already picked a side, so has Iran, I'm sure Turkey would end up involved too. In the end you end up with more more Iraq.

Sure they were....The only reason they were not killing each other is because Sadom had all the guns and was doing all the killing...So now they are making up for lost time.

They were civilized because Hussein would murder their village if they weren't.

I would hardly call Saddam's reign "civilized". The truth is, we DID free the Iraqi people from a dictator. The solution is turning out to be worse than the problem though. Iran would probably have the full support of the Shi'ia, who make up the majority.

And the Kurds, once again, get fucked.

I'll not deny that at all. But there was order, and the 'tribes and factions' weren't an issue until we waded in. El trollo seems to think that they're somehow like this at a subconcious level.

The solution is turning out to be worse than the problem though. Indeed. Where we had one bastard who we could keep an eye on - we now have loads of them, and its only going to get worse.
