That one is kinda interesting. I'd assume it's a holdover of the prejudice that Oklahomans and other prairie state people faced when they left the Dustbowl for California in the 30s. It reminds me of when I moved to Colorado temporarily and people called states to the east of them "back east" where we'd say "out east".
Fords aren't that bad. Hardly fantastic, but my opinion of them raised a wee bit when our Ford Windstar saved the life of my entire immediate family when they were smashed into by another car during whiteout conditions back in February 2003. Had the vehicle not held the control it did for a minivan, they would have been over the cliff at Windy Point along 285. As it was, they escaped with very minor injuries and some damage to the van, which the other person's insurance paid for.
