I just watched "Idiocracy"

Greatest. Movie. Ever.

It came out on DVD today, after I have waited months since Fox slipped it under the radar in it's theatrical release. Unfortunately, I wasn't near one of the three theatres it played in for four days during the initial release, so I had to wait a few months to see it on video.

Seriously, check this one out. It's about the reversal of evolution in regards to the human race and a society 500 years in the future that waters plants with gatorade (It's what plants crave, it's got electrolytes!), a person can be sentenced to gladiator style rehabilitation for "talking like a fag and shit," and for only 50 million dollars you can be treated for all of your terrible diseses at St. God hospital.

I was laughing the whole way through. De-evolution is a comedy goldmine and Mike Judge has tapped it brilliantly.

I forsee a rash of Idiocracy-themed nations in the immediate future.

I may be going to see this movie at a dollar theater near me soon thanks to this review. I hadn't even heard about it till I saw this. I'll get back to you with a review shortly.

Sounds good, I'll have to rent it.

The regression of society is nothing new to the world of fiction. Science fiction writers have used it several times in the past to illustrate how sloth can lead to humanities downfall.

Dibs on Comancho for a nation name.

My new nation is going to kick ass and shit. Free Brawndo (The thirst mutilator!) for all and I will build the biggest monster truck ever for rehabilitation night!

Okay, so I watched it. It was funny, and for what it was trying to point out, it served it's purpose, even if it beat me over the head with it. Unfortunately, the humor deteriorated a little bit after that initial segment explaining the population's decline in intelligence. I'm still not sure this is even plausible, all things considered, but meh. It worked for what it was supposed to work for.

(I also like how Upgrayedd somehow showed up at the very end after the credits, if only because stuff like that amuses me.)
