I just got evicted.
I just got evicted...
...for no aparent reason other than my roommates are whiney assholes.
The moral of this story is that I'm packing boxes right now, and don't know when I'll someplace to live, or if it will have the internet. So you won't hear from me for a bit. Have fun all.

If you are then contact your local CAB or students union if you're at university. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk
Do not leave the premises. Only under extreme circumstances can you be forced to leave the house immediately. Otherwise you have one month's notice.
Reasons for terminating the contract must be legal otherwise the contract is still in effect. Obtain a written of note of why the contract is being terminated.
Examine your contract and check for reasons for which your landlord may evict you.
Do not leave the premises.
Not British. USian. And he's tried to pull shit before, so I don't want to deal with it and am leaving.

wow, that fucking sucks.
similar thing happened to a old friend of mine... she and one of her (former) flatmates didn't get on well, had a big fight, and she found a letter of eviction from the landlord on the doorstep a couple of days later. she had to go back to living with her mum. hopefully you can do something similar??

Oh wow, that sucks. :(
Just go crash at a friend's tonight and for the next few days (different friends if necessary; if need be spread your boxes out over several friends... Do you live near your parents? Would come in very handy right now. :/) until you can figure out something more permanent, even if permanent means just a few weeks or a couple months.
You'll be alright. :fluffle:

Sucks dude, I've been there (recently in fact. It's why I now post from San Francisco instead of Santa Cruz).
Just breath deep and forge ahead. You should insist on 30 days, though. No matter how much of a baby your roommates are, everyone deserves at least that.

I don't know where you are located in the U.S. but some states have really good Landlord Tenant laws, and you may have recourse, if you still are there. I would if you are leaving put your stuff in storage, it's a Bad Idea to have one's stuff scattered among friends. I've been Badly Burned doing that one. Take care!

Yeah. Immediate eviction is bullshit. You should have laws against that.

Most places do. It's usually 30 or 60 days, depending upon the locality and length of tennancy. (This is assuming there is no lease).

shit! that sucks!
No way should you be made to move without notice if your rent is up to date and you have not wrecked your gaff...
Surely there is are laws to protect you from this kind of shit? At least your land lord should give notice...?
Hope you find some place!

We do. Evicting is actually a pretty complicated process. (I didn't go through it either, but I did take the 30 days.)
