...that will be able to run Battlefield 2. That is your challenge, proceed!!!

(oh and I don't need it to be able to run battlefield 2 at maximum efficiency, as long as it works)

Try and blag a freebie from somewhere (universities and large companies might throw PCs away regularly frequently - ask) or get something secondhand from a friend. You can shove a "new" graphics card in it if whatever it comes with isn't up to snuff.

You could also look through ebay...

I don't think buying new is the most efficient way of doing this. But is Battlefield 2 really worth a whole computer?

I'm not buying it for battlefield 2, i want to get a new computer, and bf2 is the benchmark.

Oh, righto. Misunderstood, sorry ;)
Well, if you're buying new and economy is important ignore laptops. Also ignore integrated graphics, they aren't up to gaming at all.
Building it yourself will save you a few bob in most cases.
After that, pretty much any modern hardware and a graphics card at geforce 6600 or better levels should do the job.

Yay (or whatever you guys stateside say)
Games consoles do games (tho I'm no gamer)
Comps per se are tools and a gaming lapdog is akin to asking an abacus to do astrophysics.
Get the right tool for the job.;)

I always wanted a macbook, but that's way out of my fiscal league.

Yes, aim at something higher like Spore and Supreme Commander, Battlefield 2 sucks.

Anyway, next year they will release a 100 dolars notebook, so try to get one. Of course it doesnt even run tetris, but it has a pump to give it energy.

But there isn't really any space for a computer.

If your after a desktop to run the latest games but are cheap like me, you should go for the Intel core 2 duo, the slowest one thats only about £100, it overclocks to be as good as the fastest, and faster than any AMD chip. (I have an AMD processor though and they are ace). And get a Radeon X1950XT if you can find one cheap, they had them for £140 on overclockers.co.uk recently, if you cant find one get a X1950pro for even less. You can upgrade to a DX10 card when it actually comes out. Oooh and get a Logitech mouse, they rule.
