Road Test help?

I have problems relaxing. I'm getting my road test tomorrow in Kitchener (a city notorious for its terrible roads), and I'm extremely nervous. When I get nervous, I shake, twitch, and piss my pants - metaphorically speaking, that is (*ahem*). I took the road test before, but it was a long time ago in a different city, and I failed because I sadly turned left in an intersection when there were cars across that could go right through it. I knew about that, but my twitchiness got a hand on me.

My problem is trying to calm down and not be so nervous, but I've tried many things (including books and videos), but to no avail. My best strategy is to stop eating and sleeping so I'm malnutritioned and tired so I have just the right amount of energy from my nervous twitching to drive properly on the test. I sincerely need your help, since that honestly is my best idea so far. Also, I tried to take deep breaths, they just increased my hyperactivity.

Any tips concerning relaxing or the road test? Any serious help would be great, thanks.

my driving instructor recomended taking a couple of neurofen (ibuprofen) tablets half an hour or so before your test starts. i didn't need it but it's something you might try. try herbal teas, like camomile, if you don't want to use drugs. alternatively, some quiet time to collect your thoughts and settle down beforehand can't hurt, get to the test centre early and sit in a qiet corner with some music or something.

do NOT starve yourself or deprive yourself of sleep. this will cloud your judgement, slow your response times and is liable to make you shaky anyway. the most important thing is to be clearheaded so you can think yourself through your nerves. i once tried what you suggested when i was nervous about going onstage to play my guitar. it was a big mistake, i could barely hold the guitar or see the score.

Ah, yes, very nice. All I have is Green and Jasmine tea, though. Will those work?

yeh, probably. both are said to have a calming effect. if nothing else the hot water and steam will be a relaxant.

how are you taking these deep breaths by the way? a strong steady fairly rapid inhale followed by a slow steady exhale is very effective at steadying your heartrate and breathing and generally calming. try counting with each breath, up to say 10 or 20, as well.

Four or five shots of good Kentucky Burbon just before the test should fix you right up. :D
