I get 10Mbps for $180HK ($25US), unlimited d/l + cable TV. Though the cable is only the crappy channels. I'd have to pay more if I wanted any good channels.

Japan is something like 100mbps at $50 CAD. Though, I wouldn't put much faith in Nexopia as far as sources go.

I have no idea what the speed is, since my parents are paying for it--or the price for that matter--but I do know that Qwest has some shitty service at times. You'd be surprised at how often I get my speeds turned way down at different times of the day and/or night, as if they're operating "peak hours" or something, which according to my parents was not mentioned in the deal they signed with Qwest. Bugs the hell out of me it does.

Course it COULD be my wireless internet card, which isn't exactly the best piece of hardware I've ever used. It's the most inferior piece in my entire computer, in fact--I think it's about five years old, in terms of technology.

Well, I'm not likely to touch Vista for a few years yet, since I doubt I'll need it for any reason. When I do get around to it, I will need to update my video card, probably, since it might not support DirectX10.

Holy crap, I haven't had dialup in years. Still, I do remember using my 2400b modem to play Line Wars with the neighbor kid. I was so happy when I finally got a 14.4kbps modem and could play Command and Conquer against my buddy.

Officially I get 11Mbps for free, but it really fluctuates. Some days it'll be maybe 300k-1M, other days like today, 28k would outdo it.

I'm on 1Mb/sec ADSL, £23, In the UK. It's the same price for 2 megabit, but my 'phoneline's not up to it.

Well, in my student room in Metz, I pay 5 € for one month. I don't know the exact speed though, but it's quite fast.

At home in bavaria, we only get ISDN with 64kb. Around 40 € for 120 hours, every minute over the 120 hours costs 1.6 cent.

If we could get DSL, we would pay less. But the stupid telecom doesn't want to give us DSL.

I get 4mbps (yeah, right - contract says 'up to', and it never gets close) and basic cable TV from Ntl for £27.

When downloading, speeds are a lot slower, but that's cos I'm on the neighbours unsecured wireless - like half the street. :)

ah, that says i have 1.8Mbs download speed. i just found the blurb about my connection, i think it's supposed to be 2Mb and it's part of a package with cable tv and a phone line which is £30 per month minus charges. (UK)

Work: 1Gb/s local net, then Optical fiber lan, directly linked to the italian backbone. Free, of course, what the hell!

Currently 1926kbps for download. 234kbps for upload. However my connection seems to very eratic sometimes. At its worst I was trying to figure what was wrong. I pinged by ISP... latency was 1900-2000ms. Sucks. It averages out at £15/month over the course of the contract. I could have a got a higher speed from another provider for about the same price, but they had a download cap. Download caps are the source of all evil.

£15 is currently about $28, though it has been as low as $20 I think.

edit: and I don't have to pay the hidden cost of line rental because I have cable.

About 1.5 Mbps. And it's £30/month with no download cap and including free calls to 01 and 02 numbers.

That just makes me wanna move to NYC even more, because I could afford that (it's the same price I'm currently paying for 3mbps ADSL).

So yeah, I have 3mbps ADSL. I used to have 5mbps cable on a dedicated line, but Time Warner screwed me with horrendous late fees (I was a month and a half late, and they said I was four months late, so they charged me $500, which I still haven't paid).

14€ for 380-ish kB/s and a ridiculously low upload... I already asked people whether I should MAIL them CDs (legally sharable music, of course) instead of putting them on FTP.

I get 1.5 mbps for $25/month in BC, but I get 5 mbps for $20 in Saskatchewan (SaskTel has to be losing money on that).
