A New Currency Idea…

The Scandinvans
06-01-2007, 10:13
I was thinking since there will soon be a debate between the Euro and the Dollar why do we not just make a standard currency for the EU, the U.S., Canada, and while we are at the rest of the first world countries. Anyone have a good name?

I will submit the first name, the WWSD (Western World Standard Denomination).

There will be a few problems, but we can figure it out with over a billion people.

The euro's bad enough, why compound the problem by introducing a single worldwide currency?

If it were to be introduced, I'd go for the whatdoyoucallit, made up of 100 thingamajigs.

Which have a portrait of president whatshisface on them?Obviously not. The only things universal among humans are vaginas and penises. So you'd have an embosses image of a penis on one side and an engraved image of a vagina on the other. *checks he has the correct definition of embossed*

I guess we could call them Intersexes or Hermaphrodites depending on whichever your prefer.

I'm fairly sure Japan and South Korea (And China too if they keep growing) would be slight annoyed at that name.

it would have to be something generic like the credit. But there is also a good chance the the dollar could become a global currency seeing as its what the majority of the rest of the currencies are based on.

Let me suggest that we not call the new currency the: Universal Standard Denomination.

To me it becomes more and more clear that a uniform monetary system would make life easier for all of us and would force those who make living trading currencies get honest work.

We could simply go back to gold..

Or perhaps, looking to the future, units of energy. Megajoules, perhaps..

if we go back to gold I intend to buy stock in shipbuilding companies. Can you imagine the number of large ships we (US) would need to pay for our imports.

Universal Standard Denomination = USD

USD = United States Dollar

It might cause some confusion.

I like the idea of the West using a single currency. The name would have to be changed eventually since it would surely become the de facto world currency.

Oh, one more thing. Why did you leave out Australia and New Zealand? They're on the other side of the world but they are Western nations.

"The West" includes the imperialist nations during the late 1800's and early 1900's. After imperialism came to an end, it came to mean the industrialized nations that were former imperialist powers or industrialized nations which were former colonies of those powers. That includes Australia and New Zealand.

I could see this causing some "whos on first" like confusion in raffles and contests.

"You win a prize!"

"Yay! what is it?"

"Its a prize!"

"yeah, but what is it? A car? A giant slurpee?"

"Its a prize!"

"Look buddy, I get a prize right?"

"Yes!"

"And the prize has a name, right?"

......and so on!

if we go back to gold I intend to buy stock in shipbuilding companies. Can you imagine the number of large ships we (US) would need to pay for our imports. They wouldn't need many. They're not transporting big bags of dollar bills now either. You don't have to move goods to transfer ownership. They discovered that trick back in the middle ages; gold and silver were the currency, but bank notes were used for transfers of large sums.
