actually had a dream about this one last night... how sad is that? the basic idea is GTA meets Lego Star Wars. a huge, destructable city made of lego bricks and lego people, ripe for exploration and destruction in equal measure, with plenty of puzzles, sidegames, and shit like that, and a parody-esque storyline akin to those in the GTA games to hang it all together :)


whaddya think? (fans of Lego Star Wars especially will know how much fun it could be, hehe)



features could also include the ability to make your own viehicles (perhaps with special bricks you can unlock during the game, like a jet-engine brick or minigun brick for eg), your own plot of land to build, design and upgrade during the game... things like that.

I found lego awesome 10 years ago. Never really got into it again. Seeing lego move on my TV infuriates me. If lego moves, its meant to because I fucking physically moved it!

Lego company actually built a twelve foot yoda... (at least I belive it was 12. Whatever it was, it was hella huge. Esecially for being yoda)

All LEGO free roaming games have sucked. You don't actually build anything, maybe put pieces in a template. When you build anything at all.

Hate to rain on your parade, but the creator of Lego was a pacifist and they will not make any product that endorses violence. (Obvious fantasy worlds e.g. Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter are presumably excluded). That's why you won't see any military-themed Lego.

It will have to be GTA: Mega-Blocks, which isn't as cool.

well it doesn't have to have a direct GTA link.... doesn't have to be called LEGO GTA or anything. just LEGO CITY or something. plus it can be non-violent with puzzles and stuff, or cartoon-y violence a la lego star wars.

i got it a couple of months back and still love it.... my girlfriend and i play it together and its cool :) :fluffle: (its actually tonnes more fun with her in co-op mode..... ooh that's another thing this game should have :D)

just about to get the 60 gold bricks you need to get the lego city level and i'm so looking forward it it :P

Games don't suck unless the devs make it suck (or the publishers force the devs to make it suck) because it will sell regardless.

recent advances in player-made content creation (i'm looking at you, Spore) could make building your own viehicles, buildings, etc, really quite viable with a decent physics engine

got to admit though it would be freaky from a lego-mans point of few. Thinks of the dough boy from ghost busters.

Make it indistructable! But after the toddler has eat enough lego people he chokes and crushes part of the city...

Actually, that wouldn't be that complicated. Especially with normal Lego, but Technic would be quite doable. The physical interactions between different lego models (or a lego model and the surroundings) would be the hard part, but no more so than with other 3D objects. In fact, because most lego bricks are approximately convex, it might even be easier.

Oh, if I had lots of free time and enthusiasm I'd have a go at making a demo! But I don't, so some other bugger can. I'm surprised nobody's done it already.
