In which country would you rather live?

A failed state with unending civil strife, like Somalia but worse, or a state ruled by an utterly ruthless AI with a desire for absolute order no matter the cost, like Nazi Germany or the USSR but worse?

That's like asking if you'd rather burn to death or drown.

Pudding land... especially in the summer, where there are hot girls wearing white t-shirts.

I would go with Big Brother, because I might have a means of escape, plus totalitarianism usually doesn't last as long as Chaos.

Pudding land.

I like pudding.

I'll go with the failed state, as it's generally easier to acquire weapons and take over some territory when you don't have to contend with Big Brother watching you.

Fire or ice in hell? I can't choose.

i'd prefer the first one i guess. in the second one you'd probably have little chance of escaping and there would be constant controls etc. in the first one you could just try to stay under the radar, or find some friends and protect eachother.

I think civil war land, because as a human I will at some stage be to some tiny extent disorderly and thus it is a certainty that I will be wiped out.

Pudding Land, of course.

But for a serious answer, failed state, I guess. Especially if there were an organized left-wing anarchist movement there.

Chaos. Much easier to preach the Austrian School's dogma to individuals in a state of pure anarchy than in a police state. :)

is this question asked with the understanding that we would be able to do something about it?

If we were to go into this dystopia and do something to change it (join/create a resistance or create a governing body), I would choose either equally.

If it was understood that the scenario would be a rather permanent one, I would choose the anarchist scenario.

Including Puddingland was a bit silly, that's just going to mess up the poll.

Anyway, Puddingland aside, I'd chose the Anarchy. Anarchy can be moulded to your advantage, but a Police State cannot be.

Failed state. I would just need an AK-47 that I could trade for a bar of chocolate, someplace to chill out, and ocasionaly walk around to get some food.

In an AI state, I would be forced to work, which sucks.

Its beter to be hit by a bomb than to be forced to work.

Hmmm...anarchy land I can attempt to take over, but AI totalitarian land I can confuse with my own AI-ness and still take over. Can I have them both? Oh, and throw pudding land in it too. :p

Totalitarian Police state-join the system and become Big Brother, better than being dead or in prison.....

As for actually choosing between them I'd have to say the failed state. I'm pretty handy with an AK47 (I even have one of my own) so I could probably get a job as a soldier for some group or another. It wouldn't be a good living, but it'd be better than living in a 1984 style state.

I like pudding... so the obvious...

but aside from comics, it's much easier manipulative chaotic elements to your bidding than something already set in stone [or a bloody-fisted iron grip...]

I'd rather live in chaos, but I'd be alot more patriotic and loyal to a Police State, also much rather be in power in the Police State than the chaos.
