First post!

Remember yours?

I have two "firsts". My first first post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10712361&postcount=108) was an RP (or "waste of time") post. I'd just gotten into the whole NS thing and was a bit overenthusiastic about the UN bidness, so's I posted a redundant and overlong screed about the evils of free trade in a resolution debate thread.

I am so embarrassed...

Anyways, my first real post (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=482262) was in General, as it should be. I'd just gotten into the whole NSG thing and was a bit overenthusiastic about the freeform political debate bidness, so's I posted a less redundant (but still overlong) screed about the evils of the NSA wiretapping program.

I am so not embarrassed.

So, what's your story?

NS had just gotten some press which caused a flood of new people, I was one of them. There was thread welcoming us, I posted and asked if I did think of a name could I change mine.

Nope...

Mine was in the old forums as well, but I remember I butted in between a discussion between, Eutrusca and I think Drunk Commies or perhaps Oceandrive. Essentially I accused them both of being the same 46 year old woman living in a trailer park.

I think the argument was about whether Eutrusca was really a Vietnam vet, but I can't remember for sure.

Despite my relatively low post count, I was present in the Olde Forummes. But here (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6306853&postcount=25) is my first post on the New Forums.

My point doesn't seem to make sense, and I clearly thought I was too cool for punctuation*.

Yeah, use the SEARCH function at the top of the page, third from the right.

THis isn't my first post, but it was my first major post:

Oppose, only to a certain extent. Fear, quite certainly.

In addition to being an atheist, I'm also a Historian. My specialty is modern history (1800-2000), but I have a firm grounding in pretty much the last thousand years. The thing that really gets me, is how very LITTLE the various organizations of religion have changed since the 1600s.

The biggest alteration has been among the Jews; the rise of the Reform Movement. But Christianity, Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Shinto are still basically the same as they were four hundred years ago, aside from a little window dressing.

At which time, you might recall, people like me had a distressing tendency to wind up burned alive.

Now, you might well say that the average Christian today wouldn't stand for that. You might be right; but the fact is that in 1600, from the writing that have survived, most people didn't really support it then either. They just weren't willing to risk their own lives and freedoms to try and stop it.

Sound familiar? Think Germany, 1940-45.

Maybe a resurgent christianity in the west would show me wrong, show that it has matured, show that it can now tolerate those who disbelieve.

I don't believe it for a minute, though. A thousand years of bloodthirsty brutality is not washed away in 150 years of weakness. So I will continue to oppose any possibility of religion and political power getting stronger ties - and where I live, that means opposing certain forms of christianity.

I still feel this way.

Mine was a request for people on NSG to get in on a letter writing campaign, with me, to write to as many media outlets as possible to get them to stop being such dumbasses and to give us real news with real facts and not to be such kiss-asses to corporations and/or the govt.

This included my letter that I was going to send out and asked for input on how to make it better.

I think I got some people telling me not to call them dumbasses so that they might listen :D

I cant find that post though.

A month shy!I bet you won't be able to find one of my earlier posts! I've always been an eratic and infrequent poster. Not only that but for at least the first three months I never posted on the forums. My school had a strong region going on that had up to 90 countries at one point. The region was happening, I didn't need to bother with the forums. Eventually it died down (I'm the only one left now) and I started posting in general. I may have proposed the odd UN resolution I think. They were never ever serious as I remember though.

Both my first NS post, and my first General post were lost in the spam and old thread purges of yesteryear.

As I recall, my first contribution of any kind was a rather short RP bit in support of a World Court Galdania was attempting to pull together. So much for that.

My first post in NS General was in the formerly infamous "Last One To Post Here Wins" thread (doubtless long forgotten by now, along with everything except endlessly repetitive debates and threads about cookies). This is how it went:
