Actually, it's a sign that the standdown is coming fairly soon.

What the basics of the plan probably involve are putting the troops in the field, getting Iraq to look a bit orderly, and promptly run like hell, claiming that we've fixed the problems, and that it's their turn to take over.

The president's new strategy, to be revealed within days, has a 'central theme' of 'sacrifice.'

look on the bright side at least we now know the Bush grand new strategy is the same as before it could have been far worse

Obviously the best way to keep control in Iraq is to reduce our presence there to under 5 troops.

Hurray, War of Attrition against an undefined and indefinitely numbered enemy!

Hopefully Congress will tell him to blow it out his ear.

in starting this thread, and in the manner you present it, you show you have utterly no idea how the american government is run and structured...right now, its congress, not bush that will lead the way for more troops. Bush as of now has not made a decision.

are you an idiot. We are the richest and most power entity which has ever been bestowed upon this earth. Our armed forces has over 1.2 million men and women. In iraq we have 130,000. I may not be a math major....but i think that means we have a few extra.

So profoundly true.

Not in at least 5 years

Possibly never

Americas rich?
Americas more powerful than lets say the British empire?
fap fap?

America is more powerful than the British empire, and the Roman empire.

Nice call. But they do have a nice supply in Europe, I doubt the commies are much of a threat there anymore :p, let alone the Europeans themselves.

You were ridiculing him/her for stating that America is more richer than the British empire. I'd like to know if the British companies during its height were more powerful than current American corporations...because if they're not...then America's empire is probably a lot richer than Britain's.

weird I didn’t know America had direct control of a quarter of the Earths surface

also in terms of strict force of arms Russia is the most powerful nation ever (more WMD's)

Pffft like we Europeans are going to foot are own defence bill (plus the bases in Europe serve as Americas refuelling point not something you can do without)

I'd like to know if the British companies during its height were more powerful than current American corporations

British East India more or less ruled India and monopolised the whole nations economy hmmm (no Microsoft isn’t that bad)

then America's empire is probably a lot richer than Britain's.

Americas in massive debt the British empire before WWI managed to keep its nose fairly clean in that respect
