Would you live in a country run by a group of bisexual ephebephiles?

Now, hear me out. I'd like to point out that two of the finest civilizations in the history of the world were run by bi/homosexual ephebephiles, Ancient Greece and Rome.

So I ask you: Would you live in a country run by bi/homosexual ephebephiles? I'm not saying how these people would run it, but just on principle, knowing they were bi/homosexual and attracted to teenagers, would you support them?

(For those of you wondering, ephebephiles are attracted to teenagers.)

Well, if the relationships were egalitarian and genuinely consensual, and the country was not built upon imperialism and a savage class system that incorporated slavery, I would have no objection.

Oh, yeah - and it would have to be fully tolerant of alternative sexual arrangements, straight, bisexual, gay, or whatever, as well.

Yeah, it is. They aren't raping teenagers or anything. And there fine with anyone marrying anyone else. Even polygamy.

1. Its spelled ephebOphile, apparently.
I had to look it up on dictionary.com to even know what the hell it meant.

2. Since the term literally applied to teens approximately aged 18, and were considered adults, I wouldnt have any problem with it as long as everything was kosher.

I wouldnt encourage it either.

Theres a HUGE differrence in maturity between someone 18, and someone 25.
Let alone any larger gap.

Sex, sex, sex. Always about sex.

I love sex. Very few activities present such opportunities for inexpensive fun like sex does. But it simply is no basis for a class system. THe bottom line is that I don't care who fucks what as long as they have permission from the fuckee(and the fuckee is old enough to grant that consent as defined by the specifics of that culture).

I think the world will be a much better place once people outgrow their obsession with labeling people based on who or what they boink. *nod*

Who cares? In my perfect world, nobody's going to punch you in the nose or gang up on you in the parking lot with three of his redneck buddies, torture you, tie you to the back of their pickup truck and drag you down the street for several miles, eventually leaving you to die alone just because you asked the wrong person. :p

You and me both. :)

But my fears aren't so severe as that. It's just that most straight males these days, even the more liberal ones, have... um... weird attitudes towards homosexuality and bisexuality, and while the reactions would just be funny in some cases, they would be rather uncomfortable in others.
New Zealandium

And as for Luntic Goofballs idea on sex.

Recently I got bored, so I tried that. Basically saying to everyone I meet "I want to get into your pants"

I'm now in a relationship, and I was taken up on two other offers.

Try it, what you got to lose? (Ok, maybe not in like, the bible belt or whatever, but in a lefty area, you can always pass it off as a joke :))

Well, a little reconnaissance can go a long way. for instance, the big fat guy wearing blood-spattered camoflage and pounding his fifth budweiser may not be your type. He probably hasn't fully come to terms with his sexual identity.

On the other hand, the lone frat guy with the sculpted hair and the t-shirt that says, "Nice shoes. Let's fuck." Might be a good starting place. :)

I would most certainly live in Ancient Greece/Rome. Their bisexuality is in fact a relief - there was little discrimination based on sexual preference whether one be gay, straight or in between.

Their sexual problems deal with women, and with the abhorrance they treated femininity with. That, along with the legalization of slavery would be the socio-political problems that'd be most worrisome.

not only yes, but damd rather then the one i'm living in.
greece and rome had their problems too, of course.
far as i can see, what anyone goes to bed with, where, when or how often ain't got diddly squat to do with how they run a country.

what i would not want to live in a country that is run by are idiological fanatics. any country that is, it takes massochistic heroism just to be honest, and that, when it takes willingness to risk life and limb, just to avoid deceiving yourself and others, by any other name, that to me is what tyranny is.

i'd really like to live in a 'country' that wasn't 'run' at all, except at the local level by people you know personaly and know where they live, if you know what i mean, with broader levels of governance existing only to curb and prevent excessess of local ones and to be able to deal with such concerns as may arrise on a broader level, like keeping tangable infrastructure environmentaly harmonious.

and as for the personal proclivities of its 'leaders'. best case in that context is for no two of them to be remotely alike to each other.

there is NO age at which anyone becomes magicly mature. granted the longer one lives the more chances one has to; but that's about it. as for the young being gullible, well the thing is HUMANS are gullable, it's only a matter of varying degree.

now i don't see large age differences in sex as being aesthetic from the younger perspective and i also understand the sexual insecurity that comes of getting older and less eroticly aesthetic. it is the last, if feel certain, is at the root of this age prejudice thing in reguard to sex.

at any rate, back to the consiquences for how a nation is run, it is the status quo of age aparthied that is at the more deliterious end of the scale, and not what more open an legal acceptance would be, whatever fanatical prejudices might happen to be promoted by prevailing beliefs.
