Idea for a Movie

While on vacation, I had an idea for a movie. I discussed this with my cousin, and we not only agreed it was a good idea, but we were naming actors.

Let us continue this on NS General!

The pitch: During an election year, somehow, the Founding Fathers come back. As the US populace doesn't particularly like either candidate, George Washington trounces them both, and is once more President of the United States. He appoints the other Founding Fathers to his cabinet.

After the obligatory comedy whereby the founders adapt to modern society, a crisis comes up. I haven't figured it out yet, but it will involve a nasty dictator standing up to the US. Ultimately, there will be military action, but exactly what form, I haven't decided.

Apart from working out the plot, we need to put everyone in their proper roles, and find actors for everyone. I had a few ideas, and I'm going to start the list:

George Washington (President), played by Patrick Stewart
John Adams (Vice-President), played by Dick Van Dyke
Andrew Jackson (Secretary of Defense), played by Russell Crowe
Benjamin Franklin (Secretary of Energy), played by Kevin Spacey
James Madison (Secretary of State), played by Nicholas Cage
Thomas Jefferson (Secretary of the Interior), played by Jay Leno
Alexander Hamilton (Secretary of the Treasury), played by ______
John Hancock (Secretary of Commerce), played by Christopher Walker
John Quincy Adams (Attorney General), played by Steve Martin
Martha Washington (First Lady), played by ______
Lafayette (President of France), played by Gerard Depardieu

Add any other Founding Fathers who you think we should have, along with their Cabinet positions.

Non-Founding Fathers:
_________ (Secretary of Homeland Security), played by Hugo Weaving - prominent present-day member of Washington's Cabinet
_________ (Chief of Staff), played by Robin Williams
_________ (White House Press Secretary), played by Stephen Colbert
_________ (Incumbent President who is unseated by Washington), played by William Shatner
_________ (Speaker of the House - Female), played by Geena Davis
_________ (Chief of the Air Force), played by Will Smith
_________ (Chief of the Navy), played by Morgan Freeman
_________ (Chief of the Army), played by Carlos Mencia
_________ (Chief of the Marines), played by Arnold Schwarzenegger
_________ (Bad guy dictator), played by Liam Neeson
_________ (Soldier), played by Samuel Jackson
Jon Stewart (Newscaster), played by Jon Stewart

He'll play an American soldier - a Marine, Air Force pilot, or Navy captain, depending on how the fighting turns out.

But we need more actors to play the Founding Fathers. Jackson, unfortunately, is black, and all the Founding Fathers were white. Sorry.

It's a comedy. Thomas Jefferson can be black in a comedy. :)

Billy Connely just for comedy value. And throw in Nicholas Cage

It's half comedy, half action movie. And I need specific role suggestions. Yes, Cage is very good, and certainly needs to be in this movie. But who should he play? Jefferson? Adams? Madison? Jackson?
Londim
01-01-2007, 23:30
Cage can be Madison or in a twist Martha Washington

Lafayette (President of France), played by Gerard Depardieu

Get the Pythons. And put them on a plane with Samuel L. Jackson at one point in the film.

I repeat: suggest who they should actually play, not just an actor to include.

Dakota Fanning as George Washington.

OK, first, we need a good actor to play Washington. He has to be older, not thin, and intimidating as hell.

I'm going to put down Dick Van Dyke as John Adams.

01-01-2007, 23:38
John Hancock? It's Herbie Hancock!
Goonswarm

I've got Washington's actor: Patrick Stewart. He's an excellent actor, well respected, and he could be intimidating if necessary.
Buristan
01-01-2007, 23:43
Chief of the Army: Carlos Mencia

Newscaster: Jon Stewart as himself

Scream Guy as himself

and get Steven Colbert in there somewhere and you will get an Oscar

No, Martha Washington needs to be played by an older actress... not too many of those left, are there? I'm almost tempted to shift Geena Davis into that role...

And I'll put Colbert down as Washington's Chief of Staff.

Oh, I like that title.

OK. In other news, I am putting Jay Leno in to be Thomas Jefferson, who I shall... wait, even better!

Benjamin Franklin (Secretary of Energy), played by Jay Leno

Lafayette (President of France), played by Gerard Depardieu

One of the few Frenchmen who had a spine.

Uhm France had a King at this time and it wasn't Lafayette

Personally I think I should plaay George Washington and Carmen Electra could be Martha

I made couple changes - Colbert is now the White House Press Secretary. Jefferson is now played by Jay Leno, Franklin being taken by Kevin Spacey. And Robin Williams is now the Chief of Staff.

We are missing something - a Founding Father to become our Attorney General.

I have it! John Quincy Adams.

Now for an actor...

The chief of Marines could be Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ooh, or Martin Short. And, Steve Martin would make a good founding father... Maybe he could be J.Q.A. Him or Chevy Chase...

I'll take Arnold for the Marines, and Marton for JQA.

Wow, we only have two remaining slots to fill - Hancock and Hamilton.

We also need names for the non-Founding Fathers, and then we need a plot. Our evil dictator, currently played by Liam Neeson, is going to get on America's nerves, at which point, Washington and his cabinet take him on, old school.

Exactly what form will this take? For a start, what country is Neeson the dictator of? How will he anger America? And exactly how will Washington handle him?

Martha Washington (First Lady), played by Paris Hilton

No.

Yeah... Martha Washington played by Paris Hilton. That's a brilliant idea... and while we're at it we can take a crap on the rest of American history.

May rabid dogs tear the flesh from your face for coming up with such a disgusting idea as that.

My choice for Martha Washington: Betty White.

Well based on the other comment in his post, I'm not terribly suprised he's an ignorant jackass when it comes to France.

And Morgan Freeman. I don't care where. He's just a good call.

Christopher Walken needs to be in it too. Maybe as John Hancock. Either way, you need Walken in the movie. Much like cowbell.

Yes. She is. Though its hard to tell since the dog has more meat on its bones than she does.

Goonswarm, I guess, does not recognize that Frenchmen have spines just like Americans ~ they just don't bend so low.

Regarding Frenchmen, I was making a joke. Please do not insult me for humor - my actual impression of the French is of a VERY hospitable people. And I put Paris Hilton only because a lot of people liked it.

OK, I'll cut her out.

Morgan Freeman is already in there - he'll be the top dog in the Navy.

If they're being reincarnated, rather than just being brought back bodily, you could make them black, Hispanic, Asian, female or even animals. Gives a lot more scope for casting, for instance, cast George Washington as Katharine Mulgrew (Janeway on Voyager) and Halle Berry as Thomas Jefferson.

If I were to 'reincarnate' them, then it would be a lot harder to identify them. Far easier just to make our actors look like them.

That's the beauty of it. More scope in casting, make the audience think. I mean King George III played by Dame Judi Dench would be brilliant. Benedict Arnold could be played by Jane Fonda. It would be hilarious.

This movie is basically about the Founding Fathers coming back and kicking dictator butt. Benedict Arnold would be out of place.

Aww...

I guess we can cut it down A BIT.

Possible cut-down cabinet:
President: George Washington
Vice President: Thomas Jefferson
Secretary of State: Ben Franklin
Secretary of Defense: Andrew Jackson - wait, scratch that;
Secretary of War: Nathaniel Greene
