A question for NS Muslims
Congo--Kinshasa

Have you ever made a pilgramage to Mecca? If not, do you plan to do so, and if so, when?
Seriously, those Muslims thought ahead...what comparable innovation can you find in Christianity? You are required as a Muslim to make at least one trip to Mecca in your lifetime...can you imagine if something similar was required of Christians and housed (for some insane reason) in Washington? Cash in and then some...of course I bet it'd look like a cheap version of Vegas...

Hey, so, are you going to learn Arabic to read the Koran properly? Or just choose a few words and phrases to pepper throughout your speech?

Paradise, hopefully. why? Going to Mecca isn't a must before you can earn favour with Allah, so if you die beforehand it won't be held against you. But all Muslims who are able should go at least once in their lifetime.
I think it would be funny if Soviestan learned arabic and started a thread like the "nethelandse topic" or whatever it's called.

It is important for me to learn Arabic. All Muslims should because its better to say your prayers in Arabic and to read the Qur'an in Arabic.

See? Why aren't the Christians required to learn whatever the hell language the Bible was originally written in? Think of the huge industry in language classes that would arise...my gods, the possibilities...

From what I've been told, it's 'anyone who possibly can, should', but it's less pressing for women to do so than for men, and it's not a commandment, it's more of a desire you are expected to have anyway. The rich aren't thought better of because they can make it once a year, and those among the poor might never see it...

Basicly, according to belief if a Muslim doesn't visit Mecca they go to hell?
This is another reasons why people better hope that Israel isn't forced to go nuclear. I wouldn't be suprised if Mecca and Medina were on their target list.
That would singlehandly destroy the entire religion.

No that's not it. If your able to go you should. Meaning if it is financially/physically/whateverally possible for you to go you should. Of course if your handicapped, too poor, or caring for a sick one, etc nothing will be held against you. This isn't one of those do it or your going to hell deals :p

Bullshit.
I'm sure it's a lovely city, and so long as you bring your tourist dollars/euros/pounds/yen they'll be hapy to receive.
After visiting the Alhambra, I have made it a point to try and visit any more sites of international repute. Mecca is one of them.

Non-muslims (in one case, the vile polytheistic hindoos too) have been allowed to enter Mecca for renovation/construction work at the discretion of Saudia regime.
This Mecca for muslims only is not an islamic injunction set by Mohammed. It was a later thing. In Muhammed's time many non-muslims used to live in Mecca.

I don't know what the very first Bibles were written in, but at some time I think the Old Testament was written in Aramaic. And then the New Testaments were written in Greek.
Later, translations to Latin and then other languages have since caused many disputes to come about over interpretation.

Close, OT was written in Hebrew, the NT was written in Aramaic, Greek, and Amharic.
Later, translations to Latin and then other languages have since caused many disputes to come about over interpretation.
That, and the council of Nycea[sp?]

Why elevate Arabic to holy status?
Its not so much that it has holy status. The thing is that when you translate out of a language it loses its meaning. So when you translate the Qur'an or prayers out of Arabic they lose a little of the meaning they had being in their original language(Arabic).
Soviestan

Out of respect of Allah, Muslims should use Allah in place of "God". Statements refering to Allah such as inshAllah should be in Arabic.

Statements refering to Allah such as inshAllah should be in Arabic.
Because as we all know, the outward manifestations like language used is more important than the actual inner spiritual thoughts and humbleness that is behind the saying "God willing".
