Sino-Japanese Relations

China and Japan have had a long and troubled history with each other. They've had their share of battles and friendships.

In recent decades, trade and cooperation between the two countries increased but both countries have always held their reservations. China had their worries about Japanese remilitarization and more recently, the Japanese have raised eyebrows about the increase in China's military expenditures. With the Japanese seemingly intent on broadening their perspective on their armed forces (perhaps to gain a seat on the UN Security Council), is their reason to believe that tensions between the Pacific powers are flaring up again?

Japan has a tight relationship with the U.S., while China probably would like to see America fall on its face most of the time. When it comes to the ROC, Japan adopts the same stance as the USA.

North Korea always leaves Japan feeling insecure and is still technically at war with South Korea and the USA. Though, relations with China are still quite strong.

I've heard people predict realignment between Japan and China while some signs point to brewing tensions on the horizon. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. What do you think?
